What are day-to-day artist managers?

Day-to-day artist managers are professionals in the music industry who handle the routine and operational aspects of an artist’s career. They coordinate schedules, manage communications, organize travel and logistics, and serve as the main point of contact between the artist and other industry professionals. Their goal is to ensure that the artist’s daily activities run smoothly, allowing the artist to focus on creative work. Day-to-day managers often work closely with the artist’s main manager and team to implement long-term career strategies.

What are some common challenges faced by Day To Day Artist Managers, and how can they be addressed?

Day To Day Artist Managers often juggle multiple priorities, such as coordinating schedules, handling last-minute changes, and maintaining clear communication between the artist, label, and other stakeholders. A common challenge is balancing the artist’s creative needs with business obligations, which requires strong organizational skills and adaptability. Building a reliable network and using effective management tools can help streamline workflows and reduce stress. Proactive planning and clear communication are essential for addressing these challenges and ensuring the artist’s career moves forward smoothly.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Day To Day Artist Manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Day To Day Artist Manager, you need a solid understanding of the music industry, contract negotiation, and project management, often supported by a relevant degree or experience in entertainment management. Familiarity with music business software, booking systems, and digital marketing platforms is typically required. Job description

We are UMG, the Universal Music Group. We are the world's leading music company. In everything we do, we are committed to artistry, innovation and entrepreneurship. We own and operate a broad array of businesses engaged in recorded music, music publishing, merchandising, and audiovisual content in more than 60 countries. We identify and develop recording artists and songwriters, and we produce, distribute and promote the most critically acclaimed and commercially successful music to delight and entertain fans around the world.
PLEASE NOTE: This opportunity is being posted in partnership with the REPUBLIC Collective. The selected candidate will be employed by The Freddy Wexler Company and will not be an employee of Universal Music Group (UMG). Employment, compensation, benefits, and all terms and conditions of employment will be administered by The Freddy Wexler Company.
The Freddy Wexler Company is an LA- and Nashville-based music publishing, management, and entertainment company founded by GRAMMY-nominated songwriter and producer, Freddy Wexler. Our roster spans genres and career stages, including buzzing boyband, JYT, a high-energy, dance-forward pop act signed to Republic Records; rising country artist Madden Metcalf, recently signed to MCA; to emerging singer-songwriters and on-screen talent. We think big, and every project we touch is built for longevity.
We are looking for an experienced Day-to-Day Artist Manager to join our team and take ownership of daily operations for a portion of our growing roster. This is a high-responsibility, low-hand-holding role. You will be expected to hit the ground running, bring real thought leadership, and keep multiple artist careers moving forward simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Upcoming Projects
  • New albums announcing and releasing in 2026-2027
  • Touring throughout 2026-2027
  • Creation and release of a multi-part docuseries detailing the rise of Artist's career
  • Leadup to release of a reboot of a beloved TV series that Artist stars in
  • Writing and recording new music

The Role
The Day-to-Day Manager is the connective tissue between the lead Manager, our Artists, and the outside world. You are a trusted partner who is as detail-oriented as you are intuitive, and who operates with calm, care, and precision under pressure.
You'll handle everything from the smallest logistical details to helping execute long-term artist visions. You'll be central to a tight-knit, collaborative team that values creativity, discretion, and hustle. You will bring not only strong organizational skills, but ideation and thought leadership across logistics, creative, marketing, digital, touring operations, and partner relationships.
What You'll Be Doing
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all day-to-day artist needs across the roster
  • Own and maintain artist calendars, schedules, logistics, and deadlines, keeping everything current in real time
  • Manage all incoming correspondence, scheduling, and communication on behalf of Artists and the Management team
  • Coordinate across touring, marketing, label, digital, and publicity teams, including with our major label partners
  • Handle logistics and advancement for touring, recording sessions, press, photo and video shoots, and promotional events
  • Support release and marketing asset timelines; manage and distribute assets across teams
  • Work closely with the digital/social team to build and execute consistent, on-brand content schedules
  • Manage merchandise operations end-to-end: design direction, ordering, inventory, settlements, and webstore coordination
  • Hire and communicate with band members, guest musicians, crew, and glam teams
  • Handle contracts, financial routing, and budget creation and reconciliation
  • Act as a calm, solutions-oriented presence when issues arise - on the ground and remotely
  • Provide quality control across all artist-facing communications and content
  • Travel as needed to support and represent Talent on shoots and at meetings
  • Provide in-person support for the roster of Artists as needed

What We're Looking For
  • 2+ years in a directly applicable full-time role: Day-to-Day Manager; Artist Manager; Product Manager; Publicist; Assistant to a high-powered CEO or public figure; or similar
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple artists or accounts simultaneously without dropping the ball
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; comfortable interfacing with high-profile contacts and industry partners
  • Proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with strong emotional intelligence
  • Keen eye for aesthetics and brand alignment across genres - our roster spans country, pop, and beyond
  • Deep, evolving understanding of music, culture, and the modern media landscape
  • Comfortable navigating artist personalities with empathy, professionalism, and directness
  • Familiarity with Google Suite, project management tools, and digital marketing platforms
  • Tour Management and/or Graphic Design experience is a plus
