The Technology Application Group plays a critical role in supporting this mission by ensuring that the IT hardware, systems, and technology resources used across Raleigh Water's operations are reliable, secure, and properly managed. The Temporary IT Administrative Assistant contributes directly to this support function by providing both administrative and technical assistance focused on IT hardware asset management, data tracking, documentation, and departmental coordination. This position helps maintain efficient day-to-day operations by managing the lifecycle of IT equipment, preparing reports, organizing meetings and events, and assisting with special projects. The role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and comfort working in a fast-paced, technology-focused environment that ultimately supports the department's ability to deliver safe, reliable water services to the community.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage the full lifecycle of IT hardware assets, including procurement, deployment, tracking, maintenance, and disposal
  • Prepare and maintain asset management reports, spreadsheets, databases, presentations, and related documentation
  • Coordinate meetings, events, and departmental activities, including scheduling, communication, logistics, and facility arrangements
  • Support budget development and monitoring related to IT hardware assets; assist with financial transactions and performance measures
  • Draft, edit, and format correspondence, reports, presentations, and confidential materials
  • Maintain organized digital and physical file systems; perform data entry in spreadsheets, databases, and department-specific software
  • Assist with special projects by researching issues, preparing documents, summarizing data, and coordinating with other departments
  • Travel to multiple Raleigh Water locations throughout the week using a City vehicle
Typical Qualifications
Education and Experience:
High school degree or GED required and three years of clerical/office support experience
OR
Any equivalent combination of training and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree (4-year) preferred
  • Five (5) years of relevant government or business experience
  • Intermediate proficiency with financial/accounting systems, database tools, spreadsheets, and word processing software
Licensing and Certifications:
  • Valid North Carolina Class C Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record, or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire
