Position Purpose

  • Using the Quality Caring Model, demonstrates acceptable performance and applies the nursing process to plan and manage the care of routine patients, including patient and family education and continuum of care planning. Effectively communicates fundamental patient/family information to health care team. Identifies and communicates variances from patient goals. Responsible for providing and coordinating interdisciplinary patient care utilizing the nursing process.

As a "Registered Nurse-Surgery" you will:

  • Using the Quality Caring Model, the Operating Room Nurse (OR RN) demonstrates expertise in performance and application of the nursing process to plan and manage the care of patients in the operating room setting to patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures.

  • An innovator in minimally invasive surgery, Holy Cross Hospital was first in Montgomery County to offer robotic surgery with theda Vinci surgical system.

  • The OR Nurse plans and delivers patient care

  • Collaborates with the surgical team to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients

  • Perform pre-operative assessments, including reviewing patient histories and conducting physical examinations

  • Perform scrub functions including selection and handling of instruments and supplies during procedures

  • Perform circulating functions including monitoring, recording and communication of patient condition

  • Monitor patients' vital signs and ensure their safety and comfort throughout the surgical process

  • Assist with specimen collection, processing, and documentation

  • Educate patients and family

  • Plan continuum of care

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program; basic professional nursing degree (with requirement to obtain a BSN/MSN within a specific time frame)

  • Current licensure by the Maryland State Board of Nursing or Compact State as a Registered Nurse.

  • BLS certification (American Heart Association)

  • At least 1 year of nursing experience in a surgical setting (scrubbing and circulating)

Preferred:

  • BSN or MSN preferred

Pay Range: $41.70 - $55.68

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.

[FT/PT Benefit eligible Roles]:

**0.5 FTE (20 hours weekly) up to 1.0 FTE (40 hours weekly)
