Job description

Job Summary

We're looking for an Overlay Support Technician to support Electron Beam Physical Vapor Deposition (EBPVD) coating operations in a manufacturing environment. In this role, you'll prepare tooling, perform equipment turnarounds, set up coating chambers, and support production activities to ensure equipment readiness, process compliance, and product quality.

Shift: 4th shift, Friday-Sunday 7:00am-7:00pm

Union: This position is represented by Local 475.

Starting Rate: $28.64/hr

Training: New hires must be available to train on 1st shift, Monday-Friday, 7:00a-3:00p for a minimum of 90 days before transitioning to their regularly assigned shift.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Support Electron Beam Physical Vapor Deposition (EBPVD) coating operations by preparing tooling, equipment, and production materials.
  • Perform turnarounds of EBPVD coaters and supporting coating process equipment.
  • Set up coating chambers, surveys, rakes, and tooling in accordance with work instructions and process requirements.
  • Grit, prepare, maintain, and inspect EBPVD tooling.
  • Prepare, build, and process EBPVD rakes for production use.
  • Operate ovens, grit machines, and other preparation equipment.
  • Read, understand, and follow process specifications, work instructions, and part-specific requirements.
  • Support production schedules while maintaining quality and process compliance.
  • Follow all safety procedures and properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

What We’re Looking For

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow process specifications, general work instructions, and part-specific work instructions.
  • Ability to perform EBPVD coater turnarounds and support coating process equipment maintenance activities.
  • Ability to perform chamber setups of surveys, rakes, and tooling according to established procedures.
  • Ability to grit, prepare, maintain, and inspect EBPVD tooling.
  • Ability to prep, build, and process EBPVD rakes.
  • Ability to safely operate ovens, grit machines, and related equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
  • Ability to wear a respirator and comply with all PPE requirements.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented manufacturing environment.

 

Nice to Have

  • Previous experience in aerospace manufacturing or industrial production environments.
  • Experience supporting coating, thermal processing, or vacuum-based manufacturing operations.
  • Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience interpreting technical work instructions and specifications.
  • Experience with grit blasting, tooling preparation, or industrial equipment operation.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, moving equipment, noise, fumes, and varying temperatures.
  • Frequent standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching throughout the workday.
  • Regular lifting and movement of materials up to 30 pounds.
  • Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to all safety requirements.
