Job description

Education/Certification Required:

 
  • High School graduate or equivalent
 

Special Knowledge/Skills Required:

 
  • Good communicating and reasoning skills.
  • Must possess a Texas operator's or class C driver's license and be insurable by the District.
 

Experience Required:

 
  • Experience in repair and installation of all types of playground equipment and fence. 
 

Personal Qualifications:

 
  • Demonstrate a willingness to work overtime if necessary to ensure job requirements are satisfied and in the event emergency situations arise. 
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, in a safe and professional manner. 
  • Ability to communicate with Personnel at all levels in the school District.
  • Demonstrate the willingness to work split shifts, nights, weekends and holidays as job requirements dictates.
  • Must be able to take directions and complete assigned tasks on schedule without direct supervision.
 


Function

Under the direct supervision of the Site Maintenance Foreman and the general supervision of the Coordinator for Site Maintenance. Cut out and install new playground equipment and fence. Maintain existing playground equipment and fence. Assist in supporting the activities of site maintenance programs and projects. Helps ensure other desirable environmental conditions are met in order to support the education mission of the District.

Responsibilities:

 
  • Conform to all Board Policies and Procedures, Administrative Directives, and Departmental Rules and Regulations. 
  • Perform all tasks required within the basic responsibilities. 
  • Operate all type ground maintenance equipment, safely and proficiently.
  • Operate pickup truck with trailer for equipment transport. 
  • Cut out and set up baseball backstops, swings, chinning bars, basketball goals, football goal posts and climbing towers.
  • Build and repair garbage/bicycle racks. 
  • Build and repair fences. 
  • Set posts and build cable fences. 
  • Repair and paint all playground equipment. 
  • Make repairs to all playground equipment to conform to PSC guide lines, and/or local ordinances.
  • Clean and remove trash, brush and salvage materials from school. 
  • Build, repair and install flagpoles. 
  • Check to ensure the safety of students and workmen at all times. 
  • Must be able to operate school vehicles in the performance of duties. 
  • Record proper information on work orders. 
  • Responsible for quality control on all work performance. 
  • Perform other job related duties as required for the daily operation of the school.
 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

 
  • Lifting (heavy, 45 lbs. or over), carrying (heavy, 45 lbs, or over), stooping, walking, climbing (stairs, ladders, scaffold, ramps), balancing, crouching, kneeling, pulling, crawling, working in confined areas, pushing, reaching, repetitive hand motions, visual acuity, driving (car, truck, bus).
  • Outside temperature extremes, noises, vibrating, slippery surfaces, sunlight, works around moving objects, kneeling, chemical exposure (asbestos, fumes, vapors, gasses, dusts, smoke, etc.) Inside humidity extremes, low or intense illumination, microwaves, uneven surfaces, work with hands in water, works around machinery with moving parts, work alone, prolong or irregular hours, biological exposure (insects, mold, fungi, bacteria, animals, plants, etc.)
