What can you expect?
As the Laborer, you will work onsite in Houston, TX and surrounding areas and you will be responsible for performing various tasks to support daily operations at a construction site. This position performs tasks involving physical labor such as cleaning and preparing the job site, loading, and delivering materials, setting up and take-down of ladders, scaffolding, and other temporary shoring. You will assist craft workers using a variety of hand tools and power tools as required by the Foreman or Superintendent.
How will you do it?
  • Perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor in construction projects.
  • Perform trade for long hours, day after day, often in adverse conditions, to complete the project at hand.
  • Follow project plans and instructions by the Foreman and Superintendent.
  • Assist project Foreman and Superintendent on daily tasks.
  • Assisting skilled tradespeople in their duties.
  • Perform material handling and storage.
  • Load, unload, haul, and hoist materials.
  • Operate air, electric, and pneumatic hand tools.
  • Maintain a clean job site: picking up all tools and equipment, removal of all construction debris and trash, sweeping the area clean, and securing the job site each day to eliminate potential hazards.
  • Clean and maintain equipment used on the job.
  • Comply with all safety requirements and participate in safety meetings.
  • Review daily task assignments and clarify any material needs with the supervisor.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Perform other duties as directed.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  • All around knowledge of materials, terms, and practices in the construction field.
  • Knowledge of OSHA Construction Industry Safety Regulations.
  • Ability to work proficiently with hand and power tools.
  • Ability to safely utilize tools and equipment in the performance of duties.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve complex issues, both logical and interpersonal.
  • Ability to participate in group meetings, take direction from supervisor(s) and other crew members, high degree of attention to detail, follow work rules, and adhere to project schedule.
  • Ability to actively listen and follow instructions.
  • Ability to work productively under pressure and to pay attention to the details of a project or task.
  • Strong self-motivation and work ethic; ability to work with or without direct supervision.

Who is Brice Highway LLC looking for?
Minimum Qualifications:
  • No formal education or degree required; relevant or equivalent work experience will be considered.
  • Ability to pass drug, driving (if applicable), and background screenings.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • One (1) year experience as a Construction Laborer preferred.
  • OSHA-30 or OSHA-10 Construction Industry Safety Certification preferred.
  • Previous experience with underground utilities preferred.
  • Valid state driver's license and qualified to operate a vehicle under the conditions of the Company's Driving Policy preferred.

Working Environment:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Most of the work in this position will be spent in the field. The noise level and working conditions are consistent with those of typical construction jobs. Brice Highway, LLC has a fast-paced multi-tasking office environment requiring a high degree of efficient and effective performance. Adaptability regarding schedule and design changes and occasional overtime for immediate field support may be necessary. May work weekends and holidays, as required by the project needs.
