As a Lab Assistant Intern, you will work onsite at the datacenter in Redmond, WA, assisting with hardware builds, basic troubleshooting, equipment setup, and general lab operations. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, is eager to learn, and can adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment.

Primary Responsibilities

Hands-On Infrastructure Support (Training Provided)

  • Assist with physical installation of racks, servers, network devices, cabling, and power units.
  • Help build and configure servers, including wiring and basic setup.
  • Support routine lab maintenance and organization, including prototype and test hardware upkeep.
  • Learn and assist with cabling, power routing, and equipment labeling.

Technical Learning & Support

  • Participate in system setup and basic hardware validation under supervision.
  • Install operating systems and help run automated test scripts.
  • Learn to use debug tools such as multimeters, logic analyzers, and oscilloscopes.

Collaboration & Flexibility

  • Work closely with senior technicians and engineers to support project goals.
  • Adapt to changing priorities and take on new tasks as needed.
  • Maintain flexibility with scheduling, including night or late-evening shifts.
  • Demonstrate reliability, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn continuously.

Basic Qualifications

  • Recent graduate or currently pursuing a degree/certificate in Engineering Technology, Computer Hardware, IT, or a related field — or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Foundational understanding of computer hardware, components, and basic networking.
  • Comfortable working with tools, following technical instructions, and performing physical tasks.
  • Strong desire to develop into a full-time Datacenter Technician role.

Preferred / “Nice-to-Have” Skills (All Trainable)

  • Exposure to server builds, PC assembly, or lab environments.
  • Familiarity with basic board troubleshooting or electrical concepts.
  • Any experience with Linux or OS installations.
  • Intro-level soldering or rework experience.
  • Interest in datacenter operations, hardware validation, or system deployment.
  • Knowledge of scripting, hardware logging tools, or equipment like oscilloscopes (a plus).

What This Internship Offers

  • Hands-on experience with datacenter-level hardware and lab operations.
  • Training and mentorship from experienced technicians and engineers.
  • Flexible onsite scheduling with opportunities to support critical production hours.
  • A clear pathway to transition into a full-time Datacenter Technician position upon performance and business need.
