Position Overview

This role plays a key role in the strategic development and optimization of infrastructure software. Requires independent design, implementation, and enhancement of core system components, with a focus on scalability, reliability, and performance. Leads troubleshooting efforts for complex software defects, mentors junior team members, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to integrate new technologies and features.

What You'll Do:

  • Develop, maintain, and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and views to support data processing, data QA, and operational workflows

  • Review and refactor code for maintainability, efficiency, and adherence to best practices, mentoring junior programmers in technical skills and standards

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including network engineers, database administrators, and security specialists, to integrate new features and technologies

  • Author technical reports, contribute to the company's knowledge base, and present findings and recommendations to technical leadership

  • Manage information systems, oversee data integrity, and ensure proper documentation and version control for all technical deliverables

  • Participate in technical conferences, workshops, and external collaborations to stay abreast of industry trends and innovations

  • Attend company training and regional training in area of expertise

  • Present own work to members of department and external consultants and external professional meetings

What You'll Bring to Zelis:

  • Bachelor's degree plus 2-4 years experience, Master's degree a plus

  • Experience working in healthcare industry preferred, especially with providers and networks

  • Advanced SQL skills, preferably MS SQL Server

  • Proficiency using AI tools skillfully with an understanding of how to develop/create intelligent prompts and/or agents

  • Advanced proficiency in systems programming and debugging

  • Experience with distributed systems, networking protocols, and database internals

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Work experience in healthcare industry preferred, especially with providers and networks

Location and Workplace Flexibility

Zelis is headquartered in the U.S., with multiple locations across the country and in Hyderabad, India. Check out our locations to learn more about our offices. All employee work locations are based on the needs of the position and are determined by the Leadership team. In-office work and activities vary based on work and team objectives in accordance with Company policies.


While location expectations vary by role, candidates within approximately 50 miles of a U.S. office are generally preferred to support collaboration when needed. Our hybrid approach is flexible, and in-office presence is guided by team and business needs rather than a fixed weekly schedule.

Base Salary Range

$86,000.00 - $109,250.00

The base salary range allows us to make an offer that considers multiple individualized factors, including experience, education, qualifications, as well as job-related and industry-related knowledge and skills, etc. Base pay is just one part of our Total Rewards package, which may also include discretionary bonus plans, commissions, or other incentives depending on the role.
