Data Visualization Developer
Hybrid in Lenexa, Kansas

Join us in shaping a healthier future for kids. At Children’s Hospital Association, we unite more than 200 member hospitals to put children first—advancing care, informing policy, and driving progress together.
Where You’ll Work
This position is based in our Lenexa, KS office. We leverage a hybrid working model working three days in the office, two days optional remote work.

What You’ll Do
The Data Visualization Developer will work closely with Analytics and IT teams to translate complex data sets into creative, easy to understand visualizations that enhance decision-making for member hospitals, focusing on improved outcomes for children’s health. This individual will leverage their appreciation for the art of visual design as a communication tool and understand the impact that engaging visualizations can have on audiences, providing visually apparent actionable insights.
  • Develop, maintain, and manage advanced reporting, analytics, dashboards, AI tools, and other BI solutions.
  • Apply best practices and continuously improve UX/UI and dashboard optimization.
  • Perform and document data analysis, data validation, and data mapping/design.
  • Conduct unit tests and develop database queries to analyze the effects and troubleshoot any issues.
  • Plan and facilitate project meetings, prepare and deliver presentations, and work with cross-functional teams to meet project timeframes and quality requirements.
  • Present data in an easy to consume and understandable way, understanding best delivery options based on audience.
  • Analyze the requirements of the client or business and act as functional liaison between IT and business.
  • Administer Tableau environments across multiple sites, ensuring security standards, access controls, and configurations are consistently applied.
  • Serve as high-level subject matter expert in Tableau, Business Objects and other data visualization products, resolving support tickets related to Tableau and Business Objects.
  • Prepare data and perform data modeling using SQL for use by Tableau or other BI tools.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and internal teams to ensure the highest quality stable environment while meeting users’ expected outcomes.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and team members to iterate, refine, document, and share visualizations based on feedback.
What You’ll Bring to CHA
Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge is qualifying:
  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM related fields; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • 3+ years Tableau development skills required with proven experience in developing and working with Tableau-driven dashboards and analytics.
  • Hands-on Tableau site administrator experience including familiarity with Tableau Bridge, user group and role management, and permission configuration.
  • A solid understanding of SQL, rational databases, and normalization.
  • Ability to query and display large data sets while maximizing the performance of workbook.
  • Ability to interpret technical or dashboard structure and translate complex business requirements to technical specifications.

  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to continuous learning, staying current with emerging tools, technologies, and best practices in data visualization and analytics.

This pay range shown is a guideline. Min: $82,000 Max: $140,000 Compensation is based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, and competencies; compensation is based on the role's location and is subject to change based on work location.
