A Data Team Lead is a professional responsible for overseeing and managing a team of data analysts, scientists, or engineers within an organization. Their main duties include coordinating data projects, ensuring data quality, mentoring team members, and collaborating with other departments to meet business objectives. Data Team Leads also help define the team's strategy, set goals, and ensure that data solutions align with the company's needs. They play a key role in fostering a data-driven culture and often bridge the gap between technical staff and business stakeholders.

To thrive as a Data Team Lead, you need strong analytical skills, experience in data management, and a background in statistics or computer science, often supported by a relevant degree. Familiarity with data visualization tools (such as Tableau or Power BI), SQL, and project management software is typically required, and certifications like PMP or in data analytics can be advantageous. Leadership, effective communication, and problem-solving abilities help you guide team members and collaborate with stakeholders.
