Job description

POSITION SUMMARY
This is a faculty position directly reports to the Dean of RN Program. Plans, teaches, directs, and supervises all student learning experiences in the classroom following the curriculum of the college approved by the Accreditation Bureau.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Science Instructor is responsible for executing an interactive and lab-based science curriculum in a class of engaged RN students.
  • Demonstrate a thorough and accurate knowledge of Science.
  • Teach assigned Science course; to include Human Anatomy, Human Physiology and Pathophysiology and Microbiology.
  • Use a variety of teaching and learning strategies to communicate subject matter to students.
  • Facilitate instruction using alternative teaching methodologies as needed.
  • Post and maintain office hours.
  • Participate in the assessment of student learning outcomes.
  • Establish, maintain, and submit accurate student and instructional records each semester according to established deadlines.
  • Develop curriculum, instructional materials, and evaluation tools in collaboration with other faculty members.
  • Review and update course textbooks.
  • Encourage the development of communication skills and higher order thinking skills through appropriate assignments.
  • Develop, update, and post course syllabi in a timely manner.
  • Evaluate student performance fairly and consistently and return student work promptly to promote maximum learning.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to student needs and circumstances.
  • Record and provide attendance data in accordance with College Policies and Procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
  • Prior teaching/tutoring experience
  • Engaging teaching style
  • Effective communication skills
  • Strong sense of responsibility and positive attitude
  • Enthusiasm for education and working with students
  • Experience with or willingness to explore innovative teaching methodologies in addition to lecture mode
  • Ability to apply scientific expertise in a manner/context that is relevant to school's student population
  • Experience working with a diverse, multilingual student population is desired
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills
  • The Science Instructor is responsible for leading classes in any one or two of the following subjects: Human Anatomy, Human Physiology, Pathophysiology and Microbiology.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Master's degree in a science field relevant to the course
  • Strong Science Skills
  • High School Diploma
