Job description

Principal Objective of Position:                                                                                                     

The Quality Manager is responsible for the quality management system and monitors and advises on how the system is performing. This often includes the publication of statistics regarding company performance against set parameters. The job function covers all operational aspects of the company.

Essential Functions:

  • Promotes quality achievement and performance improvement across the organization.
  • Maintains a constant awareness of the business context and company profitability, including budgetary control issues.
  • Assesses both suppliers and company product specifications and customer requirements.
  • Works closely with purchasing staff in establishing quality requirements for external suppliers.
  • Ensures company compliance with national and international standards and legislation
  • Defines procedures in conjunction with operating staff.
  • Sets up and maintain controls and documentation.
  • Pinpoints relevant quality-related training needs.
  • Collates and analyzes performance data and charts against defined parameters.
  • Acts as a liaison with other managers and staff, particularly in areas such as design, production and purchasing.
  • Ensures tests and procedures are properly understood, carried out and evaluated and that product modifications are investigated if necessary.
  • Supervises technical staff in carrying out tests and checks.
  • Writes technical and management system reports.
  • Acts as the key contact with customer and third-party auditors.
  • Takes responsibility for ensuring the execution of corrective actions and ongoing compliance with customers' specifications.
  • Steward of new product introductions via APQP process.

Other Responsibilities:                                                                                                                    

  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Required:                                                                                           

  •  Bachelor’s degree in engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years of work experience in quality assurance.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:                                                                                  

  • Must have experience with managing an ISO 9001 certified quality system.
  • Must be experienced in the quality discipline body of knowledge and basic quality tools.
  • Excellent analytical skills, technical writing skills, verbal and written communicational skills.
  • Be able to effectively present information in one on one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills to drive continual improvement of the quality system.

  • ASQ Certified Quality Manager

Work Environment:                                                                                                                          

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Some of the work will require exposure to loud noises.
