Job description

RP Professional Services, LLC (RP) is a rapidly growing government consulting firm headquartered in Ashburn, Virginia. We're an 8(a), Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) that exclusively enables the missions of U.S. Federal agencies through superior mission support and technology integration. Our dedication to our employees and clients is driven by our promise to deliver Excellence, Value, and Flexibility. "People, not just Resources" is more than our motto; it's the foundation on which we are built! At RP, we take pride in who we are and what we deliver.

RP Pro Services is seeking a dynamic Financial Analyst to support the Office of Capital Risk Management (OCRM) within the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). This role blends commercial lending analysis, data-driven reporting, and collaborative problem-solving to evaluate financial risk and program performance for SBA's 7(a) loan program and related portfolios. This is an ideal position for an early- to mid-career financial professional who thrives in a mission-focused environment and enjoys turning complex data into clear, actionable insights.

Key Responsibilities:

Loan & Risk Analysis

  • Analyze SBA loan applications and support financial documentation to assess borrower eligibility, credit risk, and repayment ability.
  • Evaluate borrower business models, cash flow, collateral, and economic conditions in relation to 7(a) loan program requirements.
  • Determine borrower and project eligibility under SBA's 7(a), 504, and other capital access programs.
  • Support lender oversight, loan program reviews, and risk assessments through data analysis and trend interpretation.

Data Review & Reporting

  • Review and analyze large financial datasets to generate ad-hoc and recurring reports for SBA stakeholders.
  • Create meaningful data narratives and visualizations that clarify loan performance trends, portfolio risks, or compliance insights.
  • Collaborate with other analysts to ensure report accuracy, consistency, and value to the end user.

Program Operations & Pipeline Management

  • Assist with monitoring and reporting on loan processing pipelines, performance metrics, and lender activities.
  • Participate in planning, coordinating, and supporting activities related to new lender onboarding and program enhancements.
  • Contribute to solution recommendations for operational or data-related issues impacting SBA loan administration.

Internal & External Communication

  • Translate technical financial data into clear, digestible formats for SBA staff, leadership, and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to high-quality briefing materials, executive summaries, and presentations for internal and interagency use.
  • Present findings confidently to leadership and participate in group discussions on program performance or data quality.
    • 5+ years of experience in financial analysis, commercial lending, commercial underwriting, or related disciplines.
    • Experience analyzing business financials (e.g., P&L statements, balance sheets, cash flow) to assess risk and earning potential.
    • Familiarity with commercial loan processes and credit evaluation, including collateral review and borrower analysis.
    • Understanding of SBA's mission and experience with the 7(a) loan program or comparable federal loan programs preferred.
    • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust

Technical Skills

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, formulas, and modeling).
    • Experience with Power BI, SharePoint, or similar data visualization/reporting tools.
    • Ability to manipulate and analyze large datasets and translate data into actionable insights.
    • Experience reviewing, drafting, and presenting financial reports or audit findings.
    • Ability to confidently present and explain financial scenarios to C-suite executives or large internal groups.
    • Familiarity with federal loan systems (e.g., E-Tran, LMS) is a plus.

Soft Skills & Competencies

    • High attention to detail with a commitment to producing error-free deliverables.
    • Strong multitasking skills and ability to manage workload pipeline with minimal oversight.
    • Comfortable working under pressure while maintaining a high standard of accuracy and detail.
    • Effective communicator, both written and verbal; comfortable presenting to senior stakeholders.
