We are seeking a Director of Data Center Operations which is a senior leadership role responsible for building, scaling, and leading a high-performing data center services business within the Technical Field Services (TFS) division. Reporting to the Vice President of TFS, this role drives the execution of staffing and operational strategies to deliver performance, profitability, and long-term growth. This position plays a critical role in establishing CCI as a premier partner for data center installation, commissioning, and lifecycle services, in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a scalable business strategy aligned with enterprise data center growth objectives.
  • Partner with business development and executive leadership to secure and expand data center service opportunities.
  • Establish the organization as a trusted provider for hyperscale, colocation, and enterprise data center clients.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service offerings, market positioning, and customer value.
  • Build and execute a robust data center staffing strategy to support rapid growth and evolving customer demand.
  • Define workforce models balancing internal employees and subcontract labor to optimize scalability and quality.
  • Develop recruiting, onboarding, and training programs to support a growing technician workforce.
  • Create career progression pathways to improve retention and leadership development.
  • Ensure workforce readiness aligns with forecasted pipeline and revenue growth targets.
  • Own full profit and loss (P&L) responsibility for data center services.
  • Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and cost structures.
  • Drive profitability through labor optimization, pricing strategy, and operational efficiency.
  • Analyze financial performance and implement corrective actions to achieve margin and revenue targets.
  • Partner with finance to ensure accurate project costing, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Oversee execution of all data center-related programs and projects (build, install, testing, and maintenance).
  • Standardize processes, workflows, and best practices to drive consistency and scalability.
  • Establish KPIs and performance metrics for operational success (productivity, quality, cost, schedule adherence).
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, quality, and cycle time.
  • Ensure customer expectations, SLAs, and delivery commitments are consistently met.
  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing team in a fast-growth environment.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, safety, innovation, and operational excellence.
  • Develop leadership capability across all levels of the organization.
  • Lead change management efforts associated with scaling operations and introducing new services.
  • Serve as a senior point of contact for key data center clients and partners.
  • Collaborate with customers to align delivery strategies and ensure satisfaction.
  • Stay informed on industry trends (AI-driven demand, hyperscale growth, fiber infrastructure evolution).
  • Position the organization to adapt quickly to market shifts and emerging opportunities.
  • Ensure confidentiality of company and customer information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in operations leadership, preferably in data center, fiber, or technical services environments.
  • Background in technical field services or telecom infrastructure preferred.
  • Experience in data center infrastructure (fiber, structured cabling, commissioning, or lifecycle services) preferred.
  • Experience working with hyperscale or large enterprise customers preferred.
  • Proven experience managing P&L responsibility and driving business performance.
  • Demonstrated success building and scaling teams in high-growth environments.
  • Experience developing workforce strategies and managing large field-based teams.
  • Strong understanding of project delivery, construction, or technical service operations.
  • Proficiency in relevant software, such as Microsoft 365.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to develop reports and strategic plans.
  • Alignment with company values and leadership behaviors.

Shift is Monday-Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. CST but must be able to work outside normal business hours when required.

  • Must be willing to travel up to 25%.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
