Job description

Founded in 2014, ACCEL Schools is a K-12 public charter school management organization (CMO) serving students across the United States in brick-and-mortar, virtual, and hybrid school settings. We focus on improving academic outcomes of students regardless of geographic location or socioeconomic factors.

We are seeking a Human Resources Operations Associate who will work collaboratively with school leaders and functional teams such as payroll and accounting to address all areas from recruiting and onboarding to termination. This is a hybrid position based in Parma, Ohio.

Job Summary:

The primary functions of the HR Operations Associate includes coordinating and facilitating people processes during the employment life cycle. The Associate supports all areas of the Human Resources Department as well as persons in other support areas such as Payroll and Regional Vice Presidents.

In performing the essential functions of this role, the work environment is fast-paced, and team-based. The roles require in depth understanding and knowledge of Accel's systems, culture and hierarchies across business units.

Responsibilities:

Execution and administration of Accel's HR Activities including New Hire Integration, Background Checks, Compliance, Reporting/Analytics, Employee Relations, Exits, Affirmative Action, Miscellaneous and Programmatic Improvements.

  • HRIS Administration: Maintenance and enhancement of a technical and intricate onboarding electronic workflow including stakeholder notifications and data collection tasks.
  • HRIS Enhancements and system administration including documenting business requirements, creating test scenarios, completing testing, validating and researching issues in partnership with RVPs (Regional Vice Presidents) and Payroll.
  • Create and maintain personnel files
  • Respond to claims for unemployment, workers' compensation, disability, and leaves of absence
  • Conduct FLSA, EEO, and other audits
  • Ensure people data is accurate in HRIS and benefits administration system(s)
  • Annual reporting and analytics. Run HRIS reports and validate and scrub data for analysis.
  • Coordinate EEO activities across Hiring and HR Partners and the organization through training, education, processes etc.
  • Manage and process voluntary exits using standard process
  • Manage difficult conversations re: recoveries and other sensitive exit related items
  • Process New Hires, Exits, Policies and Employee Lifecycle changes
  • Produce ad hoc and regular reporting to stakeholders
  • Maintains Policies (i.e. PTO policy)
  • Respond to People questions related to policies via Shared Inboxes and other methods.
  • Maintain New Hire Handbook
  • Works with Leadership management to support the core values, and corporate social responsibility to assist in finding ways to keep them vital for the office and its people
  • Participates in, and assists with, company events such as training and internal initiatives
  • Supports Leadership with key people activities, such as performance, terminations, relocations, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • PHR/SPHR certification preferred

Experience Guidelines:

  • 1-2 years work experience, Human Resources experience preferred
  • Experience with at least one HRIS, preferably Dayforce
  • Strong client/customer service skills
  • Ability to evaluate priority and multi-task accordingly
  • Ability to write business correspondence and create reports
  • Ability to effectively and amiably present information and respond to questions from Accel people.
  • Ability to understand and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables of moderately complex scope.
  • Uses judgment within defined practices and procedures. Handles projects which have short term focus.
  • Ability to address issues proactively and constructively with direct management and team members
  • Competency handling difficult and sensitive conversations with people, leadership etc.
  • Excellent computer skills, including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word knowledge
  • Ability to report, analyze and summarize data for stakeholders and leadership
  • Interest in process improvements and trouble shooting
  • Ability to work effectively with project teams and clients

  • Willingness to travel locally up to 10% of the time

The annual starting salary for this position is between $55,000 – $62,000 annually. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
