JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a highly skilled mid-level Data Architect to design, build, and optimize our enterprise data environment. This role will be instrumental in developing scalable data pipelines, architecting our data warehouse, and ensuring clean, reliable, and accessible data across the organization.

You will work closely with operations, finance, project management, and executive leadership to transform raw data into structured, high-quality datasets that drive strategic decision-making across a general contracting and engineering enterprise.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Data Architecture & Strategy

  • Design and maintain scalable data architecture aligned with business objectives.
  • Lead the development and optimization of the enterprise data warehouse (Azure Fabric).
  • Establish data modeling standards (star/snowflake schemas, dimensional modeling).
  • Define data governance, security, and best practices for enterprise data management.
  • Ability to influence data governance, standards, and long-term digital transformation initiatives.

Data Engineering & Pipeline Development

  • Build and maintain robust ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Fabric and related Azure services.
  • Integrate data from ERP systems, project management platforms, financial systems, APIs, and other internal/external sources.
  • Develop automated workflows for ingestion, transformation, and validation of structured and semi-structured data.
  • Optimize pipeline performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Opportunity to build foundational data infrastructure from the ground up.

Data Quality & Optimization

  • Clean, normalize, and standardize datasets to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Implement data validation and monitoring processes to maintain data integrity.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve data discrepancies across systems.

API & Integration

  • Develop and maintain API integrations to ingest and expose data across systems.
  • Work with RESTful APIs and third-party integrations to automate data flows.
  • Ensure secure and efficient data exchange between platforms.

Collaboration & Enablement

  • Partner with business stakeholders to translate operational needs into technical solutions.
  • Support BI developers and analysts with optimized data models and curated datasets.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance on data infrastructure initiatives.

PREFERRED CAPABILITIES

  • Advanced Azure ecosystem experience (Azure Fabric, Data Factory, Synapse, Azure SQL, Data Lake)
  • Lakehouse and medallion architecture design (bronze/silver/gold layers)
  • Enterprise data warehouse design and dimensional modeling (Kimball/Inmon)
  • Master Data Management (MDM) and metadata/data lineage tools
  • Strong SQL Server expertise (performance tuning, indexing, partitioning)
  • Python and/or PySpark for data transformation and automation
  • RESTful API development and integration (JSON/XML)
  • Event-driven architecture (Service Bus, Event Hub, Kafka)
  • CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices (Azure DevOps, GitHub, Git)
  • Power BI semantic modeling and DAX optimization
  • Data governance, RBAC security models, and compliance controls
  • Data quality monitoring and automated validation frameworks
  • Monitoring and observability tools (Azure Monitor, Log Analytics)

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Position based out of Atlanta Office with trips to the Gainesville Office as needed for meetings.
  • Travel is limited and not routine but may occur to support major initiatives or system rollouts.
  • Periodic visits to regional offices (South Carolina, Tennessee, etc.) or active job sites as needed to better understand operational workflows and data sources.
  • Some trainings and/or meetings will take place at job sites. Due to daily condition changes on construction projects, when employees are outside of the office trailer or structure, they must wear appropriate personal protective equipment as required by the company's safety policies and as required for weather conditions.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Data Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Business Analytics, Computer Science, Construction Management, Architecture, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience designing enterprise-level data architecture initiatives within complex organizations.
  • Experience in construction, engineering, or project-based industries is preferred but not required.
