Role and Responsibilities 

  • The Data Conversion Specialist is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and executing data migration and conversion solutions to move data from legacy systems into CITI's enterprise solutions. This role partners closely with clients, business stakeholders, and project teams to deliver high-quality data migration solutions while ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and compliance.
  • The ideal candidate possesses strong expertise in SQL Server, Azure SQL, Azure Data Factory (ADF), Python, data validation, data reconciliation, and data quality management, as well as excellent client-facing communication skills.


Data Migration & Conversion

  • Lead and support end-to-end data migration and conversion activities.
  • Extract, analyze, transform, and migrate large volumes of structured and unstructured data.
  • Analyze source and target system data models and develop data mapping and transformation rules.
  • Design and develop migration routines, stored procedures, functions, views, and ADF pipelines using SQL Server and Azure technologies.
  • Perform data profiling, cleansing, validation, integrity testing, and reconciliation to ensure data accuracy and completeness.
  • Develop and maintain migration documentation, mapping specifications, validation reports, and deployment runbooks.


ETL & Data Engineering

  • Design, develop, deploy, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT solutions using Azure Data Factory.
  • Build and optimize data ingestion and transformation workflows.
  • Ensure data quality, lineage, and governance throughout the data migration lifecycle.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize pipeline performance.


Azure Cloud & Emerging Technologies

  • Develop solutions using:
  • Azure Data Factory (ADF)
  • Azure SQL Database
  • Azure DevOps (CI/CD)
  • Azure AI Services
  • Python
  • Evaluate and implement new Azure and AI-driven technologies to improve migration efficiency, automation, and data quality.


Client Engagement & Delivery

  • Work directly with clients and stakeholders to gather requirements and define migration strategies.
  • Provide migration status updates and communicate risks, issues, and dependencies.
  • Partner with business and technical teams to resolve data-related challenges and ensure successful project delivery.


Problem Solving & Quality Assurance

  • Troubleshoot and resolve data migration, validation, and integration issues.
  • Apply strong analytical and critical-thinking skills to identify risks and recommend solutions.
  • Maintain a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and quality in all deliverables

Minimum Qualification

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • 6+ years of experience in data migration, ETL, data engineering, or data conversion projects.
  • Strong expertise in: 
    • Microsoft SQL Server (T-SQL, Stored Procedures)
    • Azure SQL Database
    • Azure Data Factory (ADF)
    • Data Validation & Integrity Testing
    • Data Reconciliation
    • Data Quality & Data Cleansing
  • Experience working directly with clients and business stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must reside in the United States and be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualification

  • Python development and automation experience.
  • Experience preparing and transforming datasets for AI/ML solutions.
  • Knowledge of Azure AI Services.
  • Experience with Health and Human Services (HHS) data.
  • Familiarity with Azure-hosted enterprise applications and cloud solutions.
