They coordinate teams, develop migration plans, and often use tools like ETL software to facilitate smooth data transfer within scheduled timelines.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Data Migration Project Manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Data Migration Project Manager, you need a solid background in project management, data analysis, and IT systems, often supported by a relevant degree and certifications like PMP or PRINCE2. Familiarity with data migration tools (such as Informatica, Talend, or Microsoft Data Migration Assistant), databases, and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems is typically required. These skills ensure data is migrated accurately and efficiently, minimizing business disruption and safeguarding data integrity during complex transitions.

Can I make 100k as a project manager?

Data Migration Project Managers with significant experience, certifications, and strong technical skills can potentially earn a salary of $100,000 or more, especially in high-demand industries or regions with a high cost of living. Salary levels depend on factors such as location, company size, and project complexity, with senior roles and those managing large-scale migrations often reaching or exceeding this threshold.

Is ETL the same as data migration?

For a Data Migration Project Manager, ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) is a process used within data migration projects to move and convert data from one system to another. While ETL is a common method for data migration, not all data migrations use ETL; some may involve direct transfer or other tools. Understanding ETL helps in planning, executing, and validating data migration efforts effectively.

Job description

About Concord Servicing

Concord Servicing is a leading provider of specialty finance servicing solutions, delivering best-in-class loan administration, customer care, and operational support across a diverse portfolio of clients. Our team is passionate about operational excellence, innovation, and building lasting partnerships with the clients we serve.

Position Summary

The Senior Project Manager is a strategic leader responsible for planning, coordinating, and driving successful delivery of new client implementations, strategic business initiatives, and acquisition integration projects. This role serves as the primary project lead and central point of coordination across all workstreams - bringing structure, accountability, and communication to complex, cross-functional efforts.

The Senior Project Manager partners closely with Technology, Operations, Compliance, Client Services, and other functional teams to ensure alignment and execution - but does not own the technical or operational functions themselves. Success in this role is defined by the ability to lead through influence, remove obstacles, and keep diverse teams moving toward shared milestones.

The ideal candidate brings deep experience in servicing environments, strong stakeholder management capabilities, and a proven track record of delivering high-value, high-visibility initiatives on time and within scope.

Key Responsibilities

New Client Implementations

  • Serve as the primary project lead for onboarding new servicing clients, driving all phases from kickoff through go-live and stabilization, partnering with the Implementation team.
  • Define and maintain project plans, timelines, and readiness criteria in partnership with Technology, Operations, Compliance, and Client Services teams.
  • Coordinate across all functional workstreams - including system configuration, data migration, training, and operational readiness - ensuring dependencies are identified and managed; the Senior PM facilitates and coordinates these efforts but does not own the technical or operational execution or solution.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for client-facing project coordination, ensuring transparency and alignment on milestones, risks, and decisions.
  • Drive post-implementation reviews to capture lessons learned and drive continuous improvement.

Strategic Projects

  • Lead cross-functional strategic initiatives that span servicing operations, product, compliance, and technology - from scoping and planning through execution and closeout.
  • Partner with business owners and senior leaders to define project objectives, success metrics, scope boundaries, and operational readiness requirements.
  • Facilitate requirements discovery sessions and solution alignment across business, operations, product, and IT stakeholders - ensuring decisions are well-documented and broadly understood.
  • Owns status reporting, RAID logs, and escalation pathways.
  • Identify and proactively manage risks, issues, and interdependencies across teams; escalate blockers with recommended resolution paths.

Acquisition & Integration Projects

  • Partner with Technology, Operations, Legal, Compliance, and Finance teams to develop and execute project plans; coordinate across teams without owning the technical or operational deliverables directly.
  • Ensure clear ownership and accountability across all integration workstreams, maintaining visibility into progress and surfacing risks early.
  • Facilitate integration readiness assessments, cutover planning, and post-acquisition stabilization activities.
  • Manage communication across internal stakeholders and, where applicable, external counterparts throughout the integration lifecycle.

PMO Leadership & Standards

  • Champion and contribute to PMO standards, frameworks, templates, and tools to drive consistency, predictability, and quality across the project portfolio.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to other Project Managers on project planning, stakeholder communication, issue resolution, and delivery best practices.
  • Continuously improve project delivery practices based on retrospectives, team feedback, and industry trends.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of combined experience in project and/or program management, leading cross-functional initiatives in complex organizational environments.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in the financial services servicing industry (e.g., consumer loan servicing, payments and collections, customer care, or related operations).
  • Demonstrated experience leading new client implementations or complex onboarding programs.
  • Proven ability to coordinate cross-functional teams across technical, operational, compliance, and business domains - without direct ownership of those functions.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with experience facilitating alignment across senior leaders, business owners, and external clients.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to produce executive-ready status updates, decision briefs, and project documentation.
  • Proficiency with project management and collaboration tools (e.g., Smartsheet, Jira/Confluence, Microsoft Project, or equivalent).
  • Experience managing competing priorities across multiple simultaneous projects or workstreams.
  • Local to Scottsdale or able to commute to the Scottsdale office.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading integration or portfolio migration projects in a financial services or servicing environment.
  • Prior experience supporting or building PMO frameworks, standards, and templates.
  • Experience mentoring or providing oversight to junior and mid-level Project Managers.
  • Familiarity with loan servicing platforms, workflow tools, data/reporting solutions, or system modernization initiatives.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, Finance, Operations, Computer Science or a related field - or equivalent practical experience.

Benefits

  • Health Care Plan (Medical, Dental & Vision)
  • Retirement Plan (401k, IRA)
  • Life Insurance (Basic, Voluntary & AD&D)
  • Paid Time Off (Vacation, Sick & Public Holidays)
  • Family Leave (Maternity, Paternity)
  • Short-Term & Long-Term Disability
  • Wellness Resources
