Overview

Manager, Data Governance Objective

Provide enterprise leadership for Data Governance (DG), data readiness for AI, and data protection by translating business needs, operational risks, and regulatory requirements into practical, scalable data practices. To develop strategies and best practices that ensure Farm Bureau's data assets are wellunderstood, fit for purpose, appropriately protected, and responsibly used to support business operations, decisionmaking, and emerging technology use cases, including advanced analytics and AI. To partner closely with business and technology teams to embed governance, privacyaware data handling, and responsible data use into daytoday workflows, enterprise initiatives, and various technologies. To manage the initiatives and day-to-day activities of the DG program.

Responsibilities

Manager, Data Governance Responsibilities

Lead and evolve Farm Bureau's DG program to improve trust, consistency, and accountability for enterprise data assets and their responsible usage across operational systems, business processes, decisionmaking, and emerging technology use cases, including AI. Drive initiatives that result in data that is well understood, high-quality, broadly available for a variety of consumption, and appropriately protected, resulting in streamlined operations and excellent customer experiences. Represent the DG program within various corporate initiatives and decision-making settings, serving as the primary point of contact and a trusted advisor for business and technical stakeholders on data-related considerations.

Work with management and impacted areas to translate corporate business goals into actionable DG strategies and policies across strategic initiatives and ongoing operations. Collaborate with business and technical areas to translate DG guidance into execution strategies, prioritizing implementation consistency and practical efficiency. Partner with Organizational Change Management (OCM) to drive awareness, adoption, and sustained use of DG practices across the enterprise.

Qualifications

Manager, Data Governance Qualifications

Required

Bachelor's degree required, preferably in data management, computer science, information systems, or other technical field. Equivalent experience may be considered.

Minimum three years of DG or data management experience required.

Minimum five years of experience working directly with data and relational databases required.

Experience directly relating to the development and execution of formal DG programs required.

Preferred

Experience managing direct reports strongly preferred.

Minimum three years of insurance experience preferred.

Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), Certified Data Governance Professional (DGSP), Certified Information Management Professional (CIMP), Certified Insurance Data Manager (CIDM), or related certification preferred.
