Data Liaison information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Data Liaison, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Data Liaison, you need a solid understanding of data management, data analysis, and effective communication, often supported by a degree in information systems, computer science, or a related field. Familiarity with database systems, data visualization tools, and data privacy regulations is typically required, along with experience using platforms like SQL, Tableau, or Power BI. Strong interpersonal skills, problem-solving ability, and attention to detail set standout professionals apart in this role. These competencies are crucial for accurately translating business needs into data solutions and ensuring effective collaboration between technical teams and stakeholders.

How does a Data Liaison typically collaborate with different departments to ensure data accuracy and consistency?

A Data Liaison regularly acts as a bridge between technical teams (like data engineers or analysts) and business units (such as marketing, finance, or operations). They facilitate clear communication to gather requirements, explain data policies, and resolve discrepancies in data interpretation. This role often involves organizing cross-functional meetings, documenting data standards, and providing training to ensure all parties understand and utilize data consistently. Effective collaboration and relationship-building are crucial for maintaining data integrity across the organization.

What are Data Liaisons?

Data Liaisons are professionals who act as intermediaries between technical data teams and non-technical stakeholders within an organization. Their primary role is to ensure that data-related needs, requirements, and insights are clearly communicated and understood by both sides. They help translate business objectives into data solutions and interpret complex data findings for decision-makers. Data Liaisons also facilitate data governance, quality control, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.

Latica is a secure data network and medical intelligence platform that gives the healthcare ecosystem the ability to quickly and safely access de-identified real-world health and patient data to accelerate diagnostic and therapeutic solutions and improve patient outcomes.

Our solution enables the long-hoped-for vision of rapid, safe access to healthcare data and accelerated R&D of diagnostic and therapeutic solutions, pharmaceutical studies, and medical devices. The Forward Deployed Product Manager (FDPM) for Data & Insights serves as the critical link and main focal point between our core product/data teams and our most strategic clients. This role is unique, requiring a blend of deep technical product expertise, data science understanding, and exceptional client-facing consulting skills. The FDPM maintains regular, structured engagement with clients, acting as the primary representative for all communications and conducting ongoing research to deeply understand client needs, adoption patterns, and value realization. The primary product managed by the FDPM is the data itself and the actionable insights derived from it, ensuring our clients successfully leverage, and maximize the value generated by our proprietary data assets within their specific operational workflows. The FDPM is accountable for accelerating the time-to-value for our client engagements, transforming raw data access into measurable business impact.

Core Responsibilities

- Strategic Needs Assessment & Sales Enablement: Embed with key enterprise client teams (e.g., Data Science, Operations, Executive leadership) to deeply understand their most pressing business challenges, current data workflows, and strategic objectives. Collaborate closely with the Sales team to translate these insights into relationship management strategies and generate qualified upsell opportunities.

(1) From Client to Data Team: Translate client real-world evidence questions into precise data definitions and requirements for the data team. (2) From Data Team to Client: Communicate complex analytical findings to different stakeholders: business stakeholders receive clear, actionable recommendations articulating the ROI and strategic implications; data stakeholders receive a clear walkthrough of the methodology, thought process, and data conclusions.

- RWE Study Design & Execution: Collaborate with the data team to break down real-world data questions into clear analysis milestones and a detailed execution plan, and then actively track and manage progress to ensure timely completion.

- Data Product Adoption & Value Generation: Drive the successful adoption and utilization of our data and insight products within the client's environment, identifying and executing on opportunities for deeper integration and increased utility. Partner with Sales on client account strategy to maximize long-term value and uncover expansion potential.

- Feedback Loop Ownership: Act as the voice of the client back to the core Engineering and Data Science teams, rigorously documenting client pain points, feature gaps, and strategic opportunities related to the data product.

Technical & Data Expertise:

- Data Translation & Mapping: Serve as the data translator, helping clients map their business needs to our data schemas, and delivery mechanisms (e.g., datasets, dashboards etc).

- Technical communication: Collaborate with client data teams to ensure a smooth and reliable data consumption experience.

- Data Liaison: Guiding client on how to leverage our data product for best practices in data consumption.

Product Strategy & Execution:

- Feature Prioritization (Client-Side): Influence the product roadmap based on aggregated client feedback and high-priority needs, specifically focusing on data delivery enhancements, new insight types, and usability of data tools.

- Cross-Functional Alignment: Work closely with Sales, Engineering, and Support to ensure a successful customer experience.

- Metric Ownership: Define, track, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to client success with the data product, including adoption rate, usage depth, and measurable business impact.

Essential Qualifications and Skills:
