Position: Core Infrastructure Engineer Team Lead - US
Job Type: Full-time
Job Summary
We are seeking a DC metro area-based experienced Core Infrastructure Engineer Team Lead to join our Global Core Infrastructure team. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting secure, scalable, and highly available managed service data center environments across multiple regions. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining the stability, performance, and security of critical infrastructure while supporting ongoing operational and project-based initiatives.
The ideal candidate will possess strong hands-on experience with enterprise networking technologies, including Cisco networking solutions and FortiGate firewalls. Experience supporting networking within enterprise virtualization platforms such as VMware, Hyper-V, and Nutanix is highly desirable. This position requires a technical leader who remains actively involved in engineering, implementation, troubleshooting, and operational support activities while providing mentorship and guidance to other infrastructure team members.
This role includes responsibility for overseeing day-to-day infrastructure operations within U.S. and Canadian data centers, including the installation, cabling, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of infrastructure equipment. The successful candidate will triage incoming tickets, tasks, and projects, establish priorities, drive initiatives to successful completion, and ensure infrastructure is installed and maintained efficiently. The role also requires participation in an out-of-hours on-call rotation and support for non-local data centers through Smart Hands providers when required.
In addition to technical responsibilities, this position provides leadership for a small U.S.-based Infrastructure team. The Team Lead will mentor and train team members, serve as an escalation point for complex technical issues, and help maintain momentum on projects and operational activities. Working closely with the Global Core Infrastructure Manager, the successful candidate will collaborate with infrastructure teams across multiple regions to ensure continuity, consistency, and adherence to global standards while contributing to network architecture reviews, capacity planning, and infrastructure improvements.
What You'll Bring to the Table
Success in this role requires a self-motivated, proactive, and detail-oriented professional who is comfortable working independently while collaborating effectively across global teams and time zones. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, excellent technical judgment, and the ability to build productive relationships with internal stakeholders and customer technical teams when required. This individual must be comfortable leading others to achieve both tactical and strategic objectives while maintaining a hands-on approach to infrastructure engineering.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Minimum of 10 years of core infrastructure engineering experience supporting enterprise-scale environments.
  • Previous team leadership experience with a demonstrated ability to mentor, develop, and guide technical teams.
  • Comfortable serving as a hands-on leader who actively participates in engineering, implementation, troubleshooting, and operational support activities.
  • CCNA certification or higher.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Cisco networking technologies.
  • Expertise in routing and switching technologies including BGP, VLANs, STP, LACP, and related protocols.
  • Data center networking experience, with Cisco Nexus experience highly desirable.
  • Proven storage administration experience within enterprise environments; experience with NetApp solutions and NCDA certification preferred.
  • Proven experience managing FortiGate firewalls in enterprise environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across complex, multi-site networks.
  • Solid understanding of network security principles and best practices.
  • Experience working within distributed or global IT teams.

What We Offer
  • Opportunity to work with a global, diverse technical team.
  • Exposure to enterprise-scale and modern networking and storage technologies.
  • Competitive salary and performance-based incentives.
  • Comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance.

  • A dynamic, inclusive, and collaborative work environment.
  • 4 day in-office presence with remote work flexibility.
