Job description

Leapros Skilled Trades is actively hiring Data Center Technician (Ashburn, VA) in Ashburn, VA. This Level 3 Data Center Technician role focuses on the execution of a large-scale fiber project specializing in patching and bundled fiber infrastructure. The ideal candidate is a highly skilled professional with advanced fiber optic experience prepared to support mission-critical operations during specialized evening or overnight shifts.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $30 to $32 Per Hour BOE

Responsibilities:

  • Perform high-volume fiber patching between patch panels, including patch-panel-to-device and device-to-device connections.
  • Support the installation and organization of large-scale bundled fiber cabling throughout the facility.
  • Ensure all fiber runs are properly routed, secured, and managed according to data center standards.
  • Utilize ladders to access overhead cable trays and high-density patching environments.
  • Maintain meticulous organization of fiber infrastructure to support project scalability and troubleshooting.
  • Verify and document fiber connections to ensure accuracy within the network map.
  • Collaborate with project leads to meet strict deployment timelines for fiber infrastructure upgrades.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following all data center protocols and PPE requirements.
  • Operate effectively during assigned shifts of 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM or 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Level 3 Data Center Technician or in a senior-level fiber installation role.
  • Advanced proficiency with fiber optic cabling, including patching and bundled fiber systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform high-volume cabling tasks with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Availability to work non-standard shifts, including late afternoon and overnight schedules.
  • Ownership of or willingness to purchase over-the-ankle, ESD-rated composite toe safety boots.
  • Ability to complete a technical installation questionnaire and provide a detailed professional history.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail regarding cable management.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be willing and able to climb and work from ladders frequently.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and bend for the duration of an 8-hour shift.
  • Manual dexterity required to handle delicate fiber optic components and patch cables.
  • Ability to lift and carry tools and materials up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to work in high-density environments and confined cable tray areas.
  • Visual acuity to distinguish colored fiber strands and small-print labels.

Pay Transparency:

The anticipated pay range for this position is $30 to $32 per hour, based on relevant factors such as experience, skills, education, internal equity, and geographic location. Final compensation will be determined during the interview process by the hiring authority.
