Job description

Job Title: Data Entry / Sterile Compounding Pharmacy Technician (Source Pharmacy)

Role and Responsibilities

The Pharmacy Technician’s main responsibility is to triage, interpret and input orders into computerized medication order system. Additional responsibilities will include interpreting formula worksheets and compounding medication using approved equipment and aseptic processes. Technicians are responsible for cleaning and maintaining the compounding equipment. All duties are performed under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. The Pharmacy Technician demonstrates a commitment to the mission and goals of Source Pharmacy.

Responsibilities include:

Primary Duties: Data Entry

  • Entering prescriptions and refills into the pharmacy system accurately
  • Enter new orders for pharmacist review
  • Answer phones and answer customer questions
  • Be responsive and courteous when addressing internal and external customer needs
  • Inventory management and storage, complete appropriate documentation, such as labels, log sheets and reports
  • Maintains proper storage and security conditions for medications
  • Maintains compliance with Company and HIPAA patient confidentiality requirements
  • Performs to established efficiency metrics while adhering to quality standards
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Secondary Duties: Non-Sterile and Sterile Compounding

  • Capable of successfully completing USP 797 competencies including Hand Hygiene and Garbing, Gloved Fingertip Sampling, and Media Fill qualifications
  • Preparation and compounding of sterile products
  • Maintaining the pharmacy clean room suite to meet USP 797 requirements
  • Experience with following aseptic techniques in LAFW
  • Measures, weighs, counts, and compounds medications
  • Mixes pharmaceutical preparations according to formulation logs
  • Establishes and maintains accurate patient records by entering correct lot numbers and expiration dates of compounded medications
  • Experience using an automated compounding device
  • Clean equipment and sterilize glassware using dry heat ovens or autoclaves
  • Performs to established efficiency metrics while adhering to quality standards
  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Active FL Pharmacy Technician license
  • Sterile and/or non-sterile compounding experience
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Good computer skills (data entry, Microsoft Office products, email, internet, etc)
  • Proficient calculation skills
  • Good manual dexterity
  • Ability to work as part of a team in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to maintain a clean workspace
  • The ability to work independently and use own initiative
  • An awareness of health and safety regulations
  • Ability to listen to and follow instructions
  • Ability to concentrate for long periods of time

  • The position requires working in a variety of positions and locations such as sitting, standing, squatting, kneeling, reaching, and walking for prolonged periods of time
