Job description

The Medical Front Desk Receptionist provides essential administrative support to the office, healthcare providers, and patients in a fast-paced podiatry practice. This position primarily supports front desk operations, including patient registration, scheduling, insurance verification, and customer service, while also offering the opportunity to cross-train in clinical Medical Assistant duties as needed.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned.)

  • Greet patients upon arrival and provide exceptional customer service
  • Answer incoming calls, transfer calls, and respond to patient inquiries
  • Schedule appointments and manage multiple provider calendars
  • Register new patients and update demographic and insurance information
  • Verify insurance eligibility, referrals, and authorizations
  • Collect copays, deductibles, balances, and OTC payments
  • Maintain patient records through scanning, faxing, and data entry
  • Monitor patient flow and communicate delays to patients and providers
  • Prepare daily reports, deposit slips, and financial documentation
  • Review billing claims and denials; obtain additional information as needed
  • Track orthotics and contact patients for follow-up appointments
  • Support additional administrative and operational tasks as needed
  • Cross-train to assist with basic clinical duties and provide coverage when needed
Required Skills & Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 2+ years of medical front desk or medical office experience preferred
  • Knowledge of insurance verification, referrals, authorizations, medical terminology, and CPT/ICD coding preferred
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to learn clinical Medical Assistant responsibilities through cross-training
  • Ability to maintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality
  • Team-oriented with a positive attitude and willingness to help wherever needed
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and general computer systems
