Job description

Job Summary:
Crown Equipment Corporation is a leading innovator in world-class forklift and material handling equipment and technology. They are seeking a Data Engineer to analyze and evaluate existing or proposed systems, develop computer applications, and create APIs to integrate between existing systems and customer applications.
Responsibilities:
• Analyze and evaluate existing or proposed systems and develop computer applications, systems, and related procedures.
• Prepare program specifications, encode, test, and debug computer applications.
• Design, code, test, debug, install, document and maintain computer applications.
• Participate in peer code reviews to uphold coding standards.
• Create APIs to integrate between existing systems and customer applications.
• Interface with users to extract functional needs and determine requirements.
• Conduct detailed systems analysis to define scope and objectives and design solutions.
• Create documentation per internal standards.
• Work with customers to develop and write system requirements. Project Leadership, Training, and Testing.
Qualifications:
Required:
• 2-4 years related experience
• Bachelor’s degree (Computer Science, Management Information Systems) Non-degree considered if 12+ years of related experience along with a high school diploma or GED
• Occasional travel (0-5%)
• Occasional overnight stays (0-5%)
• Per 8-hour shift. Sit 8 hours and stand 0 hours. Typical office environment (low noise level, limited exposure hot/cold temperatures, dust, fumes, and vibrations). Regular interaction with others and performs a degree of independent work. Physical and mental demands are akin to the majority of office positions with prolonged periods of sitting and prolonged use of a computer/keyboard. Infrequent lifting, walking and climbing stairs. Occasional use of office equipment (copiers, printers, etc.)
Preferred:
• Strong programming skills in Python delivering scalable, reusable, and production-grade data solutions.
• Proficient with Python data transformation and integration libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, PySpark, PyArrow, AsyncIO).
• Strong SQL expertise including writing, optimizing, and profiling complex queries for analytical and high-volume workloads.
• Experience designing, building, and owning end-to-end data pipelines, including ingestion, transformation, validation, publishing, and operational support.
• Solid understanding of data modeling principles (relational, dimensional, lakehouse patterns).
• Hands-on exposure to cloud data platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure and Fabric (Data Factory, Data Lake Storage, Lakehouses).
• Experience integrating with REST & SOAP APIs for automated data ingestion from external sources.
• Proficient with Git-based version control and CI/CD practices (e.g., GitHub, GitHub Actions).
• Strong focus on data quality, reliability, and ownership, aligned with Agile and DevOps/DataOps principles.
• High attention to detail, analytical thinking, and the ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
