Job Summary:

In your pivotal role as Research Field Data Collector, you will provide support under direct supervision for externally-funded research studies. You will be part of the General Pediatrics team and contribute to research examining the experiences and outcomes of autistic individuals across adolescence and emerging adulthood. Your duties will include assisting the study team in the collection, verification, compilation, and organization of accurate, high-quality research data as well as performing other research activities to maintain participant engagement, safety and research integrity.
This position requires a high school diploma or GED, though a bachelor's degree is preferred. Though no experience is required 2-3 yeas of experience is desired.
You are the ideal candidate if you have a background in research, strong customer service skills, experience working with people with disabilities, and familiarity with REDCap.
This is a part-time position working up to 29 hours weekly. Though your work hours will fall largely within traditional daytime Mon-Fri business hours, there may be occasional weekend and evening hours. Flexibility is key! Much of your work can be performed remotely from home, but you will also need to be able to work on site at the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center and in community settings as needed. Some travel will be eligible for mileage reimbursement.

Key Responsibilities & Expected Performance:

  • Participant Recruitment & Retention: Assist with participant recruitment, scheduling, follow-up communications, and retention activities while maintaining a professional and participant-centered experience.
  • Data Collection: Schedule and conduct interviews, observations, assessments, and other data collection activities with autistic youth and adults and their supporters (parents and teachers).
  • Survey Administration: Facilitate the completion of electronic and paper surveys by providing guidance while ensuring protocol adherence.
  • Research Documentation: Maintain accurate participant records, tracking logs, study documentation, and files in accordance with study procedures.
  • Data Entry, Verification, & Quality Assurance: Enter, verify, clean, and review research data for accuracy, completeness, and consistency using established quality control procedures.
  • Protocol Adherence & Regulatory Compliance: Conduct all study activities according to approved research protocols, institutional policies, and participant confidentiality requirements.
  • Participant Compensation: Prepare participant payments and associated documentation according to study procedures.
  • Team Collaboration: Work effectively within a collaborative environment to ensure project success. Communicate clearly with investigators, research staff, participants, and other stakeholders.
  • Research Operations Support: Assist in ongoing study activities such as scoring checks, coding, data cleaning, report preparation, and other operational tasks necessary for successful study implementation.
