Job description

Overview

PenFed is hiring a (Hybrid) Data Governance Analyst at our Tysons, Virginia location.  The primary purpose of this job is to provide analytical and system support services to PenFed’s Enterprise Data Governance (EDG) program. The incumbent will provide day-to-day operational and administrative support for the company’s data governance tools and will perform complex data and system analyses required to support and enhance data governance tools and processes. The results of analyses performed will be used to enhance existing capabilities, address and monitor data governance issues, and evaluate new functionality making the governance of data more efficient   In addition, this role tracks and monitors enhancement and incident requests reported to the vendor and regularly interacts with Data Management, Data Owners, and Data Stewards throughout the company.


Responsibilities

  • Provide data governance 2nd line of defense effective challenge to Data Owners and Data Stewards in the business.
  • Developing data quality metrics (e.g. KRIs) and thresholds, in partnership with the first line CDO team.
  • Tracking DG Issues/incidents and findings (including root causes) and overseeing remediation plans implemented by 1LOD.
  • Risk identification and assessment of data risk categories and establishing taxonomies for inclusion in enterprise Risk Taxonomy
  • Designing testing procedures and performing independent testing of controls, procedure adherence and compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Monitoring and communicating changes to data-related regulations or other applicable requirements that impact PenFed’s data governance responsibilities.
  • Extract data from Ataccama that may be used for monitoring and reporting of the program, for use by downstream consumers and to support system operations.
  • Document the design of components or functionality developed specifically for PenFed’s data governance program.
  • Stay informed of data governance best practices and how they may be incorporated into current processes.
  • Champion data governance and data literacy at PenFed.

Qualifications

Equivalent combination of education and experience is considered.

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Information Technology or related field required.
  • Master’s Degree is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of related work experience required.
  • Must be proficient with data governance concepts including policy, business glossary, data classification and data quality.
  • Must be proficient administering data governance systems such as Ataccama and with data management tools such as Snowflake, SQL, Excel, Tableau.
  • Must be proficient extracting data from data governance systems using tools such as Atacama’s One Desktop.
  • Beneficial to have ability to work with large data sets, databases such as Snowflake and combining data from various data sources to generate reports and analytics.
  • Must be conversant with credit union business.
  • MS Word Suite.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills required.
  • Experience using  A.I. tools preferred.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position will not supervise employees.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to an indoor office setting with moderate noise.
