Job description

We are seeking an experienced Data Architect to support enterprise-wide data governance, classification, and protection initiatives within a secure Department of Defense environment. This role focuses heavily on data tagging, labeling, governance, lifecycle management, and compliance across the DoW SAP enterprise. The ideal candidate will have strong experience designing and implementing enterprise data governance frameworks while ensuring sensitive data is appropriately classified, protected, and managed in accordance with federal and DoD security requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish and manage enterprise-wide data classification and categorization standards based on sensitivity, mission-criticality, and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead coordination and deployment of enterprise data tagging and labeling mechanisms across DoW SAP environments.
  • Ensure compliance with DoD and DoW data classification and information security policies, including DoDI 5200.01.
  • Design and implement enterprise data governance frameworks, policies, standards, and operating procedures.
  • Define roles and responsibilities for data ownership, stewardship, and custodianship across the organization.
  • Develop and maintain data lifecycle management processes to ensure integrity, availability, security, and compliance of enterprise data.
  • Implement data security controls, privacy protections, and safeguards for sensitive and classified information.
  • Evaluate, recommend, and integrate data governance tools, technologies, and automation capabilities.
  • Standardize enterprise data collection, integration, and management processes across multiple systems and environments.
  • Develop implementation plans for data masking, data protection, and sensitive data handling solutions.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity, compliance, engineering, and mission stakeholders to align governance initiatives with operational requirements.
  • Support audit readiness, policy enforcement, and data compliance reporting activities.


Requirements
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree with 10+ years of relevant experience
  • OR
  • High School Diploma with 14+ years of relevant experience
  • Active TS/SCI clearance required.
  • Proven experience with enterprise data tagging and labeling initiatives.
  • Strong background in data governance, data architecture, and data management frameworks.
  • Experience implementing data classification, data masking, and data protection solutions.
  • Knowledge of DoD information security standards, governance frameworks, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience developing enterprise data policies, standards, and governance documentation.
  • Strong understanding of data lifecycle management, metadata management, and data stewardship principles.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder coordination skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting DoW and/or DoW SAP environments.
  • Familiarity with enterprise governance and compliance platforms.
  • Experience supporting classified or highly regulated environments.
  • Understanding of data privacy, security architecture, and risk management best practices.
  • Experience integrating governance tooling within large-scale enterprise systems.
