Senior Systems Administrator

Position Summary

The Senior Systems Administrator will automate, organize, monitor, and maintain all Neptune Data Center Operations on premises and in the cloud. The right candidate will possess a strong core Systems Administration skillset that they can draw upon to accomplish Neptune objectives working in an Agile framework. Candidates must have demonstrable experience supporting AWS infrastructure.

Key responsibilities:

  • Build, support, and optimize infrastructure and resources in Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Monitor, manage, and configure all LAN and WAN devices (switches, access points, firewalls)
  • Design, implement, and support on-premises virtualization solutions
  • Monitor and manage data center operations for Enterprise IT applications
  • Manage backup and disaster recovery systems for on-premises applications
  • Act as Tier 3 escalation point for Service Desk team to ensure timely ticket resolution
  • Apply critical security patches and coordinate updates
  • Manage Azure Active Directory, on-premises Active Directory, DNS, DHCP
  • Recommend infrastructure improvements for performance and uptime
  • Participate in on-call rotation and work outside business hours as needed for emergency support and planned maintenance
  • Minimum of 3 days per week working on-site at Neptune location

Requirements

Education: Bachelor's degree in MIS, CIS, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent experience

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years as Firewall, Network, or System Admin
  • Minimum 2 years AWS Infrastructure Deployment and Support
  • Infrastructure as Code experience preferred (CloudFormation, Terraform, or similar)
  • Firewall management and network switch configuration
  • Virtualization platforms, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills with technical and non-technical audiences
  • High attention to detail and personal organization

Location: Tallassee, Alabama or Duluth, GA
