Job description

Data Center Operations Specialist
The Opportunity:
We're seeking a skilled and motivated Data Center Operations Specialist to join our critical infrastructure and network delivery team. The ideal candidate has experience supporting enterprise data center operations, leading infrastructure deployments, and coordinating projects with customers, vendors, and technical teams. They are process-oriented, technically proficient, and comfortable managing multiple priorities while maintaining high standards for quality and documentation.
As a Data Center Operations Specialist, you'll lead small to medium-sized data center projects ranging from single-server installations to multi-rack deployments. You'll work directly with internal customers to plan equipment installations, coordinate with vendors and cross-functional teams, and ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and according to established standards. You'll develop rack layouts, manage space and rack-level power requirements, maintain accurate documentation, and support equipment lifecycle activities, including installs, moves, additions, and decommissions.
You'll combine your technical expertise with strong communication and organizational skills to deliver reliable infrastructure solutions while supporting the day-to-day operations of our enterprise data centers. You'll also identify opportunities to improve operational processes, documentation, and deployment standards as part of a collaborative network infrastructure team.

You Have:
  • 5+ years of experience supporting enterprise data center operations or critical infrastructure
  • Experience leading small infrastructure projects and coordinating deployments with customers, vendors, and technical teams
  • Experience with capacity planning, rack design, and data center space management
  • Experience with structured copper and fiber cabling standards
  • Knowledge of rack-level power distribution, PDUs, power capacity planning, and best practices for equipment installation
  • Knowledge of server, storage, and network hardware
  • Ability to display a process-oriented approach to documentation and change management
  • Ability to move equipment up to 50 lbs in a data center environment
  • Ability to occasionally work after hours during planned maintenance windows and travel to support remote data center projects
  • HS diploma or GED

Nice If You Have:
  • Experience with DCIM platforms, Visio, or AutoCAD
  • Experience with ITIL or formal change management processes
  • Possession of excellent communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills
  • Possession of excellent organizational skills
  • Industry Certifications such as Certified Data Center Technician Professional (CDCTP), CompTIA Server+, Network+, or similar Certification

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $77,600.00 to $176,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees. This posting will close within 90 days from the Posting Date.
