Job description

Career Strategies is seeking an energetic, customer-focused Leasing Consultant to join our team at an affordable housing community in Minneapolis, MN. This position is responsible for delivering exceptional service to prospective and current residents while ensuring compliance with affordable housing programs.

Job Title: Leasing Consultant


Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet prospective residents, provide property tours, and highlight community features.
  • Manage leasing activities including application intake, screening, waitlist management, and move-in preparation.
  • Maintain accurate knowledge of current market conditions and assist with marketing efforts, outreach, and online listings.
  • Follow Fair Housing guidelines and company policies at all times.
  • Assist applicants with completing required affordable housing documentation.
  • Ensure applicant files are complete, accurate, and compliant for audit purposes.
  • Coordinate with the Recertification/Compliance team as needed.
  • Provide prompt, friendly, and professional communication with residents.
  • Support resident retention efforts, renewals, and community events.
  • Respond to inquiries, concerns, and service requests or direct them to the appropriate staff member.
  • Maintain organized leasing files, guest cards, and software records.
  • Update occupancy reports, traffic logs, and leasing activity data.
  • Assist with rent collection, notices, and general office tasks as needed.
  • Coordinate with maintenance staff to prepare units for move-in.

Qualifications:

  • Customer service or sales experience (property management or leasing preferred).
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Basic understanding of Fair Housing laws.
  • Proficiency with computers; experience with property management software is a plus.
  • Affordable housing experience
  • Knowledge of leasing procedures, eligibility requirements, and compliance paperwork.
