What is a data assistant?

Data Assistants are professionals who support data management processes within an organization. Their responsibilities typically include collecting, entering, cleaning, and maintaining data to ensure its accuracy and accessibility. They often work with spreadsheets, databases, and specialized software to organize and analyze information, making it easier for teams to make data-driven decisions. Data Assistants may also help prepare reports and collaborate with other departments to support research or business operations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a data assistant, and why are they important?

To excel as a Data Assistant, you need strong attention to detail, proficiency in data entry, and a basic understanding of data management principles, often supported by a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with spreadsheet software such as Microsoft Excel, database platforms, and data visualization tools is typically required. Excellent organizational skills, reliability, and effective communication set top performers apart in this role. These abilities are vital for ensuring data accuracy, supporting efficient workflows, and facilitating informed decision-making within organizations.

Job description

Assistant Controller
North Fresno, CA | Full-Time | $60,000 - $75,000 + Full Benefits
Looking for a role where your work actually matters-and your boss has your back?
We're partnering with a well-established and growing organization in North Fresno to find an Assistant Controller who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and takes pride in keeping things accurate, organized, and running smoothly.
You'll work directly under a supportive, highly respected Controller who is known for being collaborative, approachable, and genuinely invested in their team's success. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to grow their accounting career in a stable, positive environment-without the red tape or rigid corporate structure.
What You'll Be Doing
This is a hands-on role where no two days look exactly the same. You'll be involved in both core accounting functions and ongoing operational projects:
  • Perform GL reconciliations and maintain accuracy across accounts
  • Track and manage loan balances and related activity
  • Review and analyze expenses and financial data
  • Assist with financial reporting and month-end processes
  • Approve bills and oversee payables workflow
  • Support various accounting and administrative projects as they arise
  • Help maintain organization and efficiency in a high-volume transaction environment
What We're Looking For
  • Strong, hands-on accounting experience (this matters more than a degree)
  • Experience with:
    • General Ledger reconciliations
    • Expense tracking and reporting
    • Loan/account balance management
  • Highly detail-oriented and organized
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume setting
  • Willingness to jump in and help with projects and process improvements
  • A team player who communicates well and takes ownership of their work

No degree required-real-world experience and a strong work ethic are what count here.
Why This Opportunity Stands Out
  • Work under a great Controller who supports and develops their team
  • Stable, growing company with a positive culture
  • Hybrid flexibility after training (balance of in-office and work from home)
  • Competitive salary: $60K - $75K
  • Full benefits package
  • Opportunity to grow your skill set and take on meaningful responsibility
Confidential Search
All inquiries and applications will be handled with the utmost confidentiality.
Qualified candidates will be contacted directly to discuss next steps.
If you're someone who enjoys rolling up your sleeves, takes pride in accuracy, and wants to be part of a team where you're appreciated-not micromanaged-this could be a great fit.
