About this Position

The Information Technology function is responsible for managing and overseeing the technology infrastructure that supports the organization’s operations. This includes the maintenance of hardware, software, networks, databases, and communication systems; ensuring that these systems are secure, efficient, and capable of supporting business objectives. Key responsibility areas include infrastructure management, software and systems maintenance and development, data management and security, technical support, and strategic planning and innovation. The Data Management & Analytics area is responsible for multiple aspects of data management and operations for the firm, including database administration and design, business intelligence and data architecture, data analytics, governance, and quality. The Data Management & Analytics - Executive focus specializes in overseeing the design, development, and operation of the technology architecture and infrastructure for the organizing, storage, retrieval, processing and analysis of data and information for internal and external clients in a sub-part of the overall organization (e.g., Group, Region, Division, Country) or is one of several executives responsible for oversight of the area at the Corporate level. Develops and implements enterprise and client-facing data management strategies to collect, store and increase usability and quality of enterprise and client data from multiple diverse sources.

  • Strategic Leadership: Defining and executing Waystar's overall data strategy, including data governance, data quality, data architecture, and data analytics roadmap to support business objectives.
  • Team Management & Development: Building, mentoring, and leading a high‑performing team of data engineers, data scientists, and data analysts, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Data Governance & Compliance: Establishing and enforcing robust data governance policies, standards, and procedures to ensure data accuracy, security, privacy, and compliance with relevant regulations (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR, CCPA).
  • Data Platform & Architecture: Overseeing the design, development, and maintenance of scalable and robust data platforms, data warehouses, data lakes, and analytical tools. Evaluating and implementing new data technologies and solutions.
  • Advanced Analytics & Reporting: Driving the development and deployment of advanced analytical models, machine learning algorithms, and predictive insights to inform strategic decisions across various departments (e.g., product, marketing, finance, operations).
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Partnering closely with business leaders and cross‑functional teams to understand their data needs, identify opportunities for data‑driven improvements, and translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Performance Monitoring & Optimization: Establishing key performance indicators (KPIs) for data initiatives, monitoring data quality, and optimizing data processes for efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Budget Management: Managing budgets for data management and analytics initiatives, ensuring optimal resource allocation and ROI.
What You’ll Need
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field. Master's degree or Ph.D. preferred.
  • Experience:
    • 10+ years of progressive experience in data management, data warehousing, business intelligence, and advanced analytics, with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing large teams.
    • Proven experience in defining and implementing data strategies and roadmaps in a complex organizational environment.
    • Demonstrated success in building and scaling data platforms and analytics capabilities from the ground up.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Expertise in data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, and data warehousing concepts.
    • Proficiency with cloud data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and related services (e.g., Redshift, Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks).
    • Strong command of SQL, Python, or R for data manipulation and analysis.
    • Experience with business intelligence tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker) and data visualization techniques.
    • Familiarity with machine learning frameworks and statistical modeling.
  • Leadership & Soft Skills:
    • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
    • Strong strategic thinking and problem‑solving abilities, with a track record of delivering measurable business impact through data.
    • Demonstrated ability to attract, develop, and retain top data talent.
    • Experience in the healthcare technology or financial technology industry is a significant plus.
    • Ability to navigate complex technical and business challenges and drive initiatives to successful completion.
