Establish data governance, quality, and security standards across 30+ source integrations (Yardi, RealPage, UKG, Salesforce, and others). Evaluate and drive adoption of AI-assisted tooling (e.g., Claude, CodeRabbit) to accelerate engineering velocity and analytics delivery. Present roadmap progress, risks, and organizational health to senior executive leadership. Manage vendor and contractor relationships, budgets, and resourcing decisions for the Data & Analytics function. Define and enforce architectural and coding standards, working closely with the Lead Data Architect to ensure long-term platform scalability.

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or related field. Experience may substitute for education. Ten years of progressive experience in data engineering, analytics, or business intelligence, including Five+ years in a people-leadership role. Five years' experience with modern cloud data platforms (Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse/SQL, or equivalent) and BI tools (Power BI, Tableau). Experience in multifamily, real estate, or another property-operations-driven industry is a plus but not required.

Strong executive presence and communication skills, with the ability to translate technical strategy for non-technical senior leadership. Knowledge of data architecture patterns (medallion/lakehouse), data governance frameworks, and modern BI/semantic modeling practices. Proven ability to build, mentor, and retain high-performing technical teams in a rebuild/turnaround environment. Strong vendor management and contract negotiation skills, particularly related to managed services and staff augmentation. Comfort operating with ambiguity and evolving scope typical of a growing, newly-formed department.
