Job description

Job Title: Student Data Analyst
Department: Office of the Provost
Reports to: Assistant Vice Provost Nicole Jackson
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Wage: $19.18 per hour
Must be currently enrolled as a Golden Gate University Student.
Summary:
Provide data analysis, assessment, accreditation, state authorization, and institutional effectiveness support to the Office of the Provost. The Student Data Analyst will collect, analyze, interpret, and present institutional and student data to support accreditation, regulatory compliance, student success initiatives, academic program review, strategic planning, and continuous improvement efforts. This position serves as a key resource for data-informed decision-making and collaborates extensively with stakeholders across the University.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Collect, analyze, and report institutional and student data required for state authorization, accreditation, assessment, and institutional effectiveness initiatives.
• Support domestic and international accreditation activities through data collection, reporting, benchmarking, evidence preparation, and compliance documentation.
• Assist in the identification, collection, and analysis of data used to assess achievement of student learning outcomes and academic program effectiveness.
• Collect and analyze data for academic program reviews, including enrollment, retention, persistence, graduation, demographic, and student achievement metrics.
• Conduct external competitor, market, workforce, and benchmarking analyses to support academic program development, strategic planning, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Design, administer, collect, and analyze student, alumni, employer, and stakeholder surveys using Qualtrics and other survey tools.
• Conduct focus groups and qualitative research to identify opportunities for improving student success, institutional effectiveness, and academic quality.
• Develop reports, dashboards, data visualizations, scorecards, and presentations for university leadership and key stakeholders.
• Assist in preparing institutional reports, accreditation reports, self-studies, annual reports, and state authorization submissions.
• Work collaboratively with academic departments, student services, enrollment management, registrar, institutional research, accreditation teams, and other university offices to support institutional effectiveness and student success initiatives.
• Monitor and ensure the integrity, accuracy, and confidentiality of institutional, employee, and student data.
• Present findings and recommendations to university leadership, faculty committees, accreditation teams, and other stakeholders.
• Maintain documentation, records, and evidence repositories related to accreditation, assessment, and compliance activities.
• Candidate must demonstrate sensitivity and professionalism when handling confidential records and information.
• Candidate must possess strong analytical, communication, presentation, and collaboration skills.
Qualifications, Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred in Data Analytics, Statistics, Business Analytics, Institutional Research, Public Administration, Social Sciences, or a related field.
Experience in higher education, institutional research, assessment, accreditation, compliance, student success analytics, or data analytics is preferred.
Knowledge of:
Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and database systems. Ability to proficiently use a Windows-based computer environment, operate standard office equipment, and create and maintain electronic and written record systems. Experience with student information systems, learning management systems, reporting tools, Power BI, Tableau, SPSS, SQL, or similar analytics platforms is preferred. Ability to collect, validate, analyze, interpret, and present complex data from multiple sources and translate findings into actionable recommendations that support institutional decision-making and continuous improvement.
Other:
Excellent written, verbal, communication, presentation, and data visualization skills. Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving abilities, including the ability to collect, interpret, analyze, and communicate complex data to diverse audiences. Strong proficiency in data analytics and reporting with the ability to translate findings into actionable recommendations for institutional planning, accreditation, compliance, and student success initiatives.
The role requires exceptional collaboration, relationship-building, and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to work effectively with faculty, academic leadership, student services, enrollment management, registrar staff, institutional research personnel, accreditation teams, state authorization coordinators, and external regulatory and accreditation agencies. Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining accuracy, confidentiality, attention to detail, and a commitment to institutional excellence.
