Job Summary

Are you passionate about cloud technologies, financial optimization, and operational efficiency? As a Principal Cloud Capacity & FinOps Analyst, you will bring deep expertise in Public Cloud Cost Governance to drive strategic financial accountability and optimization across our multi-cloud environments. You will collaborate with engineers, product managers, finance partners, and functional leaders to deliver cost optimization opportunities, cost transparency, and governance best practices at scale. This role is pivotal in shaping long-term cloud financial strategy, enabling efficient resource utilization, and supporting data-driven decision-making for senior leadership. The Cloud Capacity engineering team is a fast-moving group of experts driving innovation in cloud cost management and governance. We thrive on big challenges, results, quality, and agility.

Job Description

This role and team are based in our cutting-edge Comcast Technology Center in downtown Philadelphia.
Key Responsibilities:

Governance & Leadership

  • Lead FinOps governance and manage optimization tracking and reporting while providing strategic guidance for cloud cost forecasting and budgeting
  • Serve as the Lead FinOps Practitioner for Cloud Engineering & Acceleration, driving enterprise-wide accountability
  • Define, standardize, and manage FinOps KPIs and metrics
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on FinOps systems, tools, and integrations, guiding stakeholders on best practices for implementation and optimization
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration with engineering, product, and finance partners to align cloud cost strategies with business objectives

Optimization & Collaboration

  • Partner with engineering leaders to improve and automate cost management processes
  • Identify, track, and prioritize cost-saving opportunities across AWS, Azure, and GCP
  • Demonstrate expertise in evaluating and recommending cloud commitment instruments (e.g., Savings Plans vs. Reserved Instances), including building and maintaining financial models to analyze usage patterns, forecast demand, quantify trade-offs, and support data-driven commitment decisions
  • Analyze billing data and usage patterns to identify optimization opportunities
  • Partner with engineering, product, and finance stakeholders to gather and document business and technical requirements, translating FinOps and cost optimization needs into scalable system and tooling requirements
  • Act as a liaison between engineering teams, finance partners, and cloud vendors to develop and implement cost optimization solutions
  • Analyze dependencies across cloud platforms, tools, and engineering workflows to assess the impact of cost optimization strategies and system changes

Reporting & Tooling

  • Build dashboards and tools that visualize cost trends and KPIs
  • Develop and maintain reporting for cloud costs, optimization progress, and financial risk tracking
  • Ensure data quality, integrity, and consistency across cloud billing, usage, and reporting datasets used for financial modeling and decision-making
  • Support validation and testing of cost models, dashboards, and automation outputs, partnering with engineering teams and business users to ensure solutions meet defined requirements and expected outcomes

Best Practices & Education

  • Define and implement FinOps best practices for budgeting, showback/chargeback, and governance
  • Document and communicate process improvements
  • Lead periodic briefings and updates for engineering teams and executives; this role will have visibility to C-suite executives

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in FinOps, cloud cost optimization, cloud capacity engineering, or related cloud governance roles
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, and/or GCP), including cost drivers, architecture, and resource utilization patterns
  • Proven experience driving cloud cost optimization strategies, including identifying savings opportunities, forecasting spend, and influencing engineering teams to implement changes
  • Advanced financial modeling and forecasting skills, with the ability to translate complex usage data into actionable insights and business recommendations
  • Proficiency with cloud cost management and FinOps tooling and data visualization platforms
  • Experience partnering with engineering, product, and finance stakeholders in a cross-functional, enterprise environment
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • FinOps Certified Practitioner or Professional certification preferred
