MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Damage Control Expert to join our team working in San Diego, CA.  This is an onsite position.

The Damage Control SME will work as a trainer on the COMNAVSURFPAC Readiness Assistance Training Team (RATT), providing timely direct support to ships and enhancing shipboard proficiency and self-sufficiency.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Conduct comprehensive material condition assessments, review, and assess damage control programs and preventive and corrective maintenance procedures

  • Provide classroom and deckplate, on-the-job training to Sailors on proper and safe operations, maintenance, and management of combat systems onboard ships homeported in San Diego, Pacific Northwest, Hawaii, and Japan

  • Travel up to 25% of the time in support of shipboard training, to include international travel

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent education

  • 20+ years of experience as part of the damage control organization aboard a warship or military auxiliary

  • Direct operational and maintenance experience, within the last five years, with damage control systems and equipment currently in use by the Navy

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the current Navy damage control doctrine and practices

  • Maintenance/training staff experience and in-depth knowledge of the theory and workings of surface ship maintenance processes

Clearance Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and possess an active or current U.S. Government Secret clearance

Physical Requirements:

  • The person in this position must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.

  • Must be able to maneuver on deckplates aboard ships in port, to include ascending and descending ladders.

  • Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, or to communicate with co-workers, management, and customers, via email, phone, and or virtual communication, which may involve delivering presentations.


The projected compensation range for this position is $68,600.00-$114,100.00. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.  In addition, MANTECH invests in its employees beyond just compensation.  MANTECH's benefits offerings include, dependent upon position, Health Insurance, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, Holiday Pay, short-term and long-term Disability, Retirement and Savings, Learning and Development opportunities, wellness programs as well as other optional benefit elections.
