Job Summary:
The Accounting Intern supports the plant controlling team by assisting with accounts payable, financial reporting, cost analysis, and general accounting activities. This role provides hands-on experience in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment while developing skills in financial analysis, inventory accounting, and manufacturing cost reporting.
Essential Duties & Functions:
Accounts Payable (40%)
  • Process vendor invoices and verify coding accuracy.
  • Route invoices for approval
  • Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies with vendors and internal departments.
  • Maintain organized electronic and physical accounting records.

Reporting & Accounting Support (35%)
  • Assist with preparation of daily, weekly, and monthly plant performance reports.
  • Support month-end close activities including journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Update and maintain reporting dashboards and spreadsheets.

Financial Analysis (20%)
  • Analyze labor, material, and overhead variances.
  • Support cost savings and continuous improvement initiatives through data analysis.
  • Assist with tracking plant KPIs including production efficiency, waste, yield, and labor utilization.
  • Prepare ad hoc financial analyses for plant leadership.

Other Duties (5%)
  • Support special projects assigned by the controlling team.

Demonstrate the Company's values and winning behaviors while adhering to all company policies and practices, including safety and environmental protocols, quality standards, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

Qualifications:
Education
  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.

Experience
  • Knowledge of Business, General Accounting and analytical concepts
  • Proficient in MS Office, specifically Excel

Required Skills
  • Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Interest in manufacturing, cost accounting, or operations finance.
  • Familiarity with Power BI or data visualization tools is a plus.
  • Requires excellent communication skills, both verbally and written, in English

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
  • Work is performed largely in an office environment.
  • Hours of work will generally be during regular business hours with at least 30 hours a week.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
  • Ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods.
  • Fine motor skills for operating tools or machinery.
  • Work in hot, cold, or humid environments.
  • Occasional exposure to loud machinery or equipment.
  • Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
