Job Summary:

The Engineer I responds to guest repair requests and performs preventive maintenance, basic troubleshooting, routine repairs, pool upkeep, and landscape maintenance. This position supports safe and reliable property operations by maintaining guestroom items, tools, equipment, building systems, pool areas, and landscaped grounds; communicating maintenance issues and resolutions; maintaining inventory; and documenting work for effective shift coordination.


Job Family Core Work Activities

  • Test, troubleshoot, and perform basic repairs on equipment, plumbing fixtures, electrical components, and guestroom items.
  • Plunge toilets, clear clogged drains, replace electrical switches and outlets, and repair or replace lamps, extension cords, vacuum cleaners, internet devices, and other supported items.
  • Program televisions and complete basic guestroom equipment adjustments.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on tools, kitchen equipment, mechanical room equipment, and other supported systems, including cleaning and lubrication.
  • Visually inspect tools, equipment, and machines and report or address identified maintenance needs within the position’s authority.
  • Perform basic maintenance and repair work involving air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic or electronic systems and controls, carpentry, finish work, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, and general building systems.
  • Identify, locate, and operate equipment shut-off valves and building utility shut-offs.
  • Use the Lockout/Tagout system before performing applicable maintenance work.
  • Prepare surfaces and complete painting, minor drywall repair, and minor wood trim repair.
  • Replace light bulbs and air-conditioning filters.
  • Clean painting and repair areas thoroughly after completing work.
  • Monitor pool and Jacuzzi areas for cleanliness, appearance, safety, and maintenance needs.
  • Test, record, and adjust pool and Jacuzzi water conditions within established parameters and applicable standards.
  • Report pool or Jacuzzi water conditions that are outside established parameters.
  • Clean pool and Jacuzzi basins and perform routine maintenance on related pumps, filters, and heaters.
  • Maintain landscaped grounds, flower beds, planters, and other exterior features by watering, weeding, trimming, cleaning, and completing supported minor repairs.
  • Inspect and perform repairs on interior and exterior landscaping and external landscaping sprinkler systems.
  • Maintain sidewalks, driveways, pathways, parking areas, fountains, and other exterior grounds features.
  • Remove and dispose of trash from exterior areas and receptacles.
  • Monitor weather conditions and follow established procedures during severe weather.
  • Transport tools, radios, and other equipment needed to complete assigned work.
  • Maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies as needed.
  • Complete engineering-related inventory duties.
  • Use approved communication programs and standards to document and communicate daily activities, unresolved issues, and problems to other shifts.
  • Use basic computer applications to enter air-handler schedules and make temperature changes.
  • Follow established safety procedures when operating and storing tools, equipment, and machines.
  • Use required personal protective equipment and follow procedures for handling and disposing of chemicals and other hazardous materials.
  • Report hazards, accidents, injuries, defective equipment, and unsafe conditions to the appropriate manager or supervisor.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work and repair areas.
