Job Description

Data Integration Services (DIS) Operations Manager is responsible for managing the DIS Administration and Monitoring/Support teams located in multiple geographic locations and ensuring seamless operations of DIS solutions.


Key Responsibilities of the position:

o Manage Operations (which includes Administration, Deployment, Monitoring and Support) for EAI and ETL solutions that are sustainable in the long term and SOX compliant

o Accountable for the seamless operations of DIS solutions

o Streamline and automate deployment process

o Provide post-production support (including breakfixes) and on-going maintenance

o Ensure proper transition of new/changed functionality from DIS development team to the support analyst(s)

o Ensure all related support documentation (ex: landscape diagrams, interfaces inventory, interface specific playbooks etc) is kept updated. Ensure documentation for Production Turnover is complete and accurate

o Identify and fine tune performance bottlenecks

o Monitor and identify throttling scenarios

o Instructs, assigns, directs, and reviews the service produced by DIS Operations team members working with Enterprise DIS Sr. Manager

o Responsible for resource planning of DIS Operations resources

o Evaluates team member performance and provide feedback

o Monitors team performance against performance targets

o Provides support and on-the-job training to more junior or less experienced team members

o Ensure individual team member development of technical, functional, and industry skills

o Well-organized with attention to detail and able to work with minimal supervision

o Achieve a high level understanding of the existing applications landscape and environment

o Establish and implement governance guidelines and processes

o Acts as a role model and mentors other team members

o Provide visibility to the capabilities of DIS solutions

o Define the strategy to create and maintain host instances

o Ensure BizTalk and SSIS solutions are properly configured

o Coordinate with DBAs for any database job errors

o Responsible for installation and configuration of BizTalk Server and SSIS

o Work with DIS customers to plan and coordinate software/hardware upgrades, system outages, follow up on escalated production incidents etc

o Effectively communicate issues, risks and challenges in a timely manner to Enterprise DIS Sr. Manager

o Take measures to avoid deployment related issues

o Maintain environment uptime by monitoring exceptions and resolving issues

o Configuration and administration of shared components/services built to support DIS solutions

o Coordinate with DIS Development team for issues requiring in depth code debugging

o Ensure the Job schedules are accurately executing and meeting expectations

o Provide necessary support complying with the SLA/OLA commitments

o Publish and review support metrics with DIS customer base on a regular basis

o DR and database backup jobs planning and testing

o Monitoring the environments using BizTalk 360, Solarwinds and Openview

o The environments need to be continuously monitored without relying solely on the automated alerts. As and when exceptions/gaps are identified, need to work on getting the alerts setup

o Configure and monitor proactive alerts customized per interface to effectively identify issues upfront

o Act as point of contact for any support related to DIS issues or requests

o Provide necessary support during monthly data center maintenance weekend

o Determine the complexity and level of efforts for breakfixes and/or tasks relevant for the DIS Operations team

o Provide support during Functional Unit Testing, Integration Testing and UAT

o Identify and implement any process changes to improve the quality of overall deliverables

o Provide regular status reports to Enterprise DIS Sr. Manager summarizing the overall operations progress

o Coordinate with DBA team for any database related jobs and Control-M team for any scheduled jobs

o Work closely with DIS Development manager to ensure smoother deployments challenges faced:

o Keep all the environments in sync

o Keeping the support documentation up to date

o Significant number of simultaneous projects

o Comfortable interfacing with senior level executives

o DIS team may be spread across multiple geographic locations

o Fast paced environment

o Heterogeneous and distributed systems landscape


Education and Experience Required:

This position requires degree in Computer Sciences with over 10 years of related experience. MS is desirable.


Required Skills:

o Knowledge and implementation of data integration solutions using a formal SDLC methodology                                                               

o Experience in Microsoft Biztalk Server 2009 and 2013                     

o Experience in SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)                      

o Experience in C#, .NET, XML, XSLT, WebServices, WCF, TFS, Sharepoint, SQL Server, Oracle, Power Shell 

o Experience with BizTalk Server Administration                    

o Integration experience with SAP and Peoplesoft                   

o Experience with BizTalk 360, HP Openview and Solarwinds
