Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic individual to join our team as an Assignment Editor for our streaming channel Noticias Telemundo AHORA. If you are passionate about journalism and thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment, we encourage you to apply.

This is a project/limited term position, unless otherwise amended or terminated as deliverables within this project are completed.


Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and assign news stories to reporters and producers, ensuring timely and effective coverage of daily events.
  • Monitor newswires, social media, and other sources to identify and assess emerging story opportunities.
  • Collaborate with reporters and producers to develop compelling story ideas and angles.
  • Ensure content is accurate, balanced, and adheres to editorial standards.
  • Organize and facilitate interviews for current and upcoming stories.
  • Stay informed on current events and react quickly to breaking news.
  • Exercise sound editorial judgment and ensure high-quality journalism.
  • Partner with newsroom and production teams for seamless operations.
  • Conduct in-depth research to support investigative and in-depth stories.
  • Leverage social media and digital platforms to identify trends and enhance story development.
  • Work closely with management to align coverage with the editorial vision and goals.
Qualifications
  • Strong editorial skills and experience in news coordination.
  • Deep understanding of current events and digital media platforms.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to think quickly and manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Passionate about delivering accurate, relevant, and impactful news to the audience.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, Communications, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a newsroom.
  • Proficient in all social media platforms.
  • Experience creating digital video content in a newsroom is helpful.
  • Strong editorial knowledge.
  • Proven solid writing skills and editorial judgment.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish (both written and verbal).
  • Available for early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Accustomed to working in a team and collaborating with all levels within the organization.
  • Proven excellent interpersonal skills combined with a strong sense of how to visually tell a compelling story.
  • Outside of the box thinker.
  • Proficient in I-News, Media Central helpful.
