Job description

KE&G Construction, Inc., a 100% employee-owned company, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Estimator. At KE&G, we focus on our employee-owners' growth and development with new and exciting projects while collaborating with dynamic colleagues. Our Estimating team experiences a challenging and growth-focused work environment that encourages innovation, mentorship, and continuous development. This role is ideal for someone looking to make a significant impact—on projects, people, and their own career—while developing accurate, strategic, and timely proposals for both public and private sector projects ranging from $5 to $25 million.


What You'll Be Doing:

  • Analyze and compile estimate data affecting the cost of labor, materials, equipment, location, and other factors to ensure a high-quality, timely estimate.

  • Review drawings, specifications, and proposed project site conditions; record findings and solicit input from field operations for inclusion in the final estimate.

  • Analyze alternative solutions and construction methods to increase the competitiveness of each bid.

  • Review take-off quantities to ensure the accuracy of data used in estimates.

  • Utilize existing cost history and estimating software to complete estimates efficiently and accurately.

  • Apply advanced mathematical and analytical processes to ensure estimated costs are accurate.

  • Present estimates and participate in bid reviews with senior management to confirm accuracy and completeness.

  • Communicate with owners, subcontractors, and public and private entities to ensure competitiveness.

  • Communicate estimate and bid information to field operations at pre-construction meetings to ensure a clear understanding of project scope.

  • Develop and maintain business relationships that increase bid opportunities in the local market.

  • Supervise, direct, and mentor estimating staff to support individual development and uphold company standards.

  • Participate in and/or lead Design-Build projects to ensure high-quality estimates.

  • Additional responsibilities may apply beyond those listed above.


What You'll Bring:
Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or equivalent related work experience.


Experience

  • 10+ years of estimating experience.

  • Prior management experience required.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficiency with MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), AGTEK Take-off, and Primavera Scheduling software.

  • Advanced knowledge of estimating software.

  • Advanced knowledge of civil engineering and construction principles.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Advanced knowledge of (U)DBE requirements.


Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, and frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands to operate a computer keyboard. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. This role is subject to outside working conditions and, at times, working around large construction equipment; safety consciousness is essential.
