Job description

Description:

  • Responsible for the daily management of laboratory samples and document retention systems.
  • Support the processing team in sample preparation and analysis of forage samples.
  • Support processing teams with sample processing and testing.
  • Tasks include but are not limited to sample grinding, NIR scanning, labeling, and weighing.
  • Participate in lab housekeeping program and follow designated policy
  • Proactive focus on workplace safety and shows initiative to work safely and follow policy
  • Approximately 90% hands-on laboratory work
  • Handle and process raw materials
  • Type of Grinder: UDY Cyclone mill and Retsch ZM300 are the primary equipment used. Samples are around 100gms each and we are grinding hundreds of samples daily in preparation for further testing. Samples are fed into the top of the grinder and then collected into a sample cup after grinding is completed. The grinder stations are set up in a room with specially designed air flow to remove particulate from the work area while samples are being ground. However, special PPE requirements are still in place when working in this area.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma Required
  • Entry-level or recent graduate opportunity to gain hands-on lab experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 and associated tools
  • At least one year of relevant experience
  • Work effectively within a team, with strong communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively
  • Comfortable working on your feet for extended periods
  • Experience in a quality lab within a manufacturing environment is a plus
  • Schedule: Monday through Friday 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM; Occasionally Saturdays 1/2 days (once per month on average). Usually starts around 7am on Saturdays and done around 10:00 AM.

Technical Certification Bonus: Synectics is pleased to award its employees a bonus of up to $500 for an approved professional certification. In determining the bonus amount, Synectics will consider the cost of the test(s) for any certification relating to your current position, achieved during your employment with us. Only one Certification Bonus per calendar year may be awarded per employee. Only current, active employees will be eligible to receive this bonus. It will be awarded 90 days after the Synectics office has received documentation confirming the successful completion of the certification.
