Now, a bit more about what you'll be doing in this job:

The Service Technician is responsible for installing and servicing all printers to the delight of our customers, while enhancing Vanguard Digital's products by recommending enhancements/improvements. Your specific responsibilities include:

  • Ensure all printers are properly installed and operational.
  • Train Vanguard customers on how to operate our printers.
  • Diagnose, repair and solve issues with our printers via remote support or onsite service.
  • Support sales activities by passing information/opportunities to Sales
  • Provide remote support for our customer service 1-800 line.
  • Communicate effectively with all stakeholders to direct activities that support and deliver on our commitments.
  • Document/Record service calls including materials and resolutions in our software (Salesforce) system.

What you bring to the table:

The successful candidate will be an aggressive problem solver and an action oriented individual who effectively builds long-term value with our customers and fellow employees.

To be considered for this position, you must have these qualifications:

  • Heavy, industrial equipment maintenance knowledge/experience
  • Installation/support experience onsite as field tech/engineer
  • Willingness to travel as needed, typically up to 75% of the time throughout the USA and Canada, with occasional weekend work to meet customer needs
  • Great attitude and eagerness to learn
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and good dexterity
  • Strong electrical and electronic troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to identify, recommend, and implement effective technical repair and maintenance solutions.
  • Proficient computer skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • English proficiency
  • Experience or training within some form of mechanical discipline
  • Valid driver license and willingness to do pre-employment drug and criminal background checks
  • Physical Demands: Must be able to stand and walk most of the workday, including frequent bending/stooping. Must be able to lift/carry and push/pull up to 50 pounds.

Bonus points for these nice-to-have but not required qualifications:

  • Associates degree or equivalent training and/or experience
  • Previous experience in printing or related industry
  • Familiarity with reading schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Hands-on experience with hand tools
  • Working knowledge of multimeters for electrical testing
  • Working knowledge of AC and DC up to 3 phase
  • Basic knowledge of PLC programming
  • Strong understanding of computer hardware and software
