NorthStar Energy Services is seeking an Electrical Commissioning Project Manager to support extended work in data centers. This role is responsible for leading electrical commissioning activities, coordinating field execution, and supporting successful start-up of critical power systems in a fast-paced, highly technical environment.

The ideal candidate will have experience managing commissioning or field service projects involving medium- and low-voltage electrical systems, switchgear, transfer switches, emergency power systems, and related critical infrastructure. This position requires a hands-on leader who can manage schedules, coordinate crews and subcontractors, communicate clearly with customers, and ensure all work is performed safely, accurately, and on time.

Location: On project site in the Texas region


Commissioning and Start-Up Leadership

  • Lead electrical commissioning, testing, startup, and turnover activities for data center and critical infrastructure projects.
  • Oversee commissioning plans, procedures, MOPs, checklists, and closeout documentation.
  • Support safe energization, troubleshooting, and system verification for critical electrical equipment.

Project Management and Coordination

  • Manage day-to-day project execution, schedules, milestones, and field coordination for commissioning-related work.
  • Work closely with project teams, field technicians, subcontractors, vendors, and customers to keep work on track.
  • Track materials, equipment readiness, staffing needs, and project deliverables to support commissioning timelines.

Client and Stakeholder Communication

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for customers during commissioning and startup activities.
  • Provide clear updates on progress, risks, schedule impacts, and issue resolution.
  • Represent NorthStar professionally in meetings, site walks, coordination calls, and project reviews.

Safety, Quality, and Documentation

  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure all commissioning work is performed in accordance with company standards, project requirements, and applicable codes.
  • Review technical manuals, schematics, procedures, and test documentation to ensure accurate commissioning execution.
  • Maintain commissioning logs, turnover packages, test results, deficiency tracking, and related project records.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, construction management, or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical commissioning, field service, project management, start-up, or related critical power work preferred.
  • Strong background with medium-voltage and low-voltage electrical systems, switchgear, automatic transfer switches, emergency power systems, or similar critical infrastructure.
  • Experience supporting data center, industrial, utility, mission critical, or other highly technical electrical environments strongly preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, technical manuals, one-line diagrams, test reports, and commissioning procedures.
  • Proven ability to manage field teams, coordinate multiple priorities, and lead work in a fast-paced project environment.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Working knowledge of safety practices, quality standards, and commissioning documentation.
  • Ability to travel 80-90% of the time.
