Job description

HVAC Manager

Location: South Bend, Indiana
Compensation: $90,000-$130,000 Base Salary + Performance Bonuses + Equity Opportunity

Build Something from the Ground Up

We're looking for an experienced HVAC Manager to help launch and lead a new residential HVAC operation serving the South Bend, Indiana market.

This isn't a role where you'll simply inherit someone else's systems and manage the status quo. You'll work directly with ownership to build the operation from the ground up-developing the team, establishing processes, overseeing service and installation, and creating the foundation for a high-performing HVAC business.

For the right leader, this is an opportunity to have a meaningful voice in how the company operates, how the team is built, and how the business grows.

What You'll Do

As HVAC Manager, you'll take ownership of day-to-day field operations while helping build the systems and team needed to scale the business.

  • Lead daily HVAC service and installation operations

  • Schedule, coordinate, and supervise technicians and installers

  • Manage project timelines, labor allocation, and field workflow

  • Ensure installations and repairs meet company quality standards and applicable Indiana and local codes

  • Coordinate permitting and inspections as required

  • Train, mentor, and develop technicians and field personnel

  • Help recruit, hire, and onboard new team members

  • Build strong relationships with customers, vendors, suppliers, and trade partners

  • Support sales through customer consultations, system recommendations, and estimates

  • Help establish operational procedures, standards, and best practices

  • Track performance and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and profitability

  • Work directly with ownership on hiring, growth strategy, and operational decisions

What Success Looks Like

During your first 90 days, you'll focus on establishing a strong operational foundation. Success will include:

  • Implementing efficient service and installation processes

  • Building trust with ownership, employees, customers, and trade partners

  • Successfully managing HVAC installation and service projects

  • Recruiting and developing high-quality field personnel

  • Establishing clear expectations and accountability across the team

  • Creating a positive, customer-focused culture

  • Putting systems in place that support sustainable long-term growth

QualificationsRequired
  • EPA 608 Universal Certification

  • 8+ years of residential and/or light commercial HVAC experience

  • Previous HVAC leadership, management, or supervisory experience

  • Strong knowledge of HVAC service, installation, troubleshooting, and applicable codes

  • Experience managing technicians, installers, projects, and field operations

  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record

  • Strong communication, leadership, and customer service skills

  • Ability to meet applicable state and local HVAC licensing requirements

Additional Experience We Value
  • ServiceTitan experience

  • HVAC sales and customer consultation experience

  • Dispatching and scheduling experience

  • Estimating and job costing experience

  • Experience managing installation crews

  • Existing relationships within the South Bend/Michiana construction or home-services market

  • NATE Certification

  • OSHA 10 Certification

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who thinks like a leader and builder-not simply a technician.

You'll be a strong fit if you are:

  • Driven by integrity, ownership, and accountability

  • Comfortable building systems rather than simply following existing ones

  • Entrepreneurial and growth-minded

  • Confident leading and developing
