Job description

POSITION TITLE: Operations Manager
SALARY RANGE:
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Director, Food and Nutrition Services
OVERVIEW:
Manages day-to-day food service operations for the District schools, manages daily staffing coverage, and
coordinates equipment, compliance, and culinary follow-up with the Chefs and Supervisors.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
? Route all principal correspondence on all matters related to FNS.
? Field daily call-offs from Kitchen Managers and coordinate with the Chefs and Senior Operations
Manager..
? Field Kitchen Manager calls concerning equipment issues, coordinate with the kitchen equipment
maintenance contractor for timely repair.
? Rotate and visit assigned schools daily to follow up on compliance, culinary, and operational
concerns observed by Chefs and Supervisors.
? Support Secretary on inventory reporting and reconciliation.
? Support the Procurement and Logistics Manager on food-cost and ordering issues in the purview.
? Ensure meal service at each assigned school is executed on time, meets USDA meal-pattern
compliance, and reflects District service standards.
? Coach and develop Kitchen Managers; document performance concerns and support corrective
actions.
? Relay concerns on buildings and individuals within the purview to the Senior Operations
Manager and FNS Director.
? Perform other duties as assigned by the FNS Director.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in food service management, business, hospitality, nutrition, or related field preferred,
or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum five (5) years of food service
operations experience with at least three (3) years in a multi-unit or multi-site management role; K-12
school food service experience strongly preferred. ServSafe Manager certification required. Working
knowledge of USDA Child Nutrition Programs. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
? While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak and hear.
? The employee is required to have dexterity of hands and fingers.
? The employee is required to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
? They may be occasionally required to bend at the waist, kneel or crouch.
? Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
? While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is seated or walking at will, and must be
able to push, pull, lift, and carry up to 40 pounds.
