Overview
Note: (For NJ candidates) This role will be located at our future headquarters in Short Hills, N.J. Until the new headquarters is operational, the successful candidate will be offered the ability to work in our Branchville, N.J. location during this interim period.
Selective Insurance is looking for a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of scalable, resilient, and secure infrastructure systems. This role requires deep expertise in systems engineering, infrastructure automation, and reliability practices, with a strong focus performance optimization.
As a technical leader, the SRE will collaborate closely with architecture and development teams to ensure solutions align with SRE principles and operational excellence. Also drive continuous improvements in system resilience, observability, security, and automation, leveraging advanced data analytics and enhance service delivery and reliability.
The SRE will also serve as a trusted advisor across the organization, offering expert-level consulting in cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and incident response. A strong understanding of business-critical applications and alignment with organizational goals is essential, along with a commitment to compliance with legal, regulatory, and security standards
Responsibilities
  • Define and measure service reliability through SLIs, SLOs for various application in Selective
  • Leverages logs, traces, and metrics to extract actionable insights, proactively identify system anomalies, and drive continuous improvements in system health, performance, and reliability.
  • Perform capacity planning, conduct performance profiling, and execute system tuning to support scalability, enhance reliability, and optimize system performance across distributed environments.
  • Collaborate with Agile teams to ensure new features meet reliability and performance standards
  • Participate in incident response, and postmortem analysis to drive continuous improvement
  • Implement and maintain observability tools
  • Ensure compliance with security, legal, and regulatory requirements
  • Design, develop, and maintain dashboards to monitor and visualize application performance, enabling real-time insights and proactive issue resolution

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in SRE, DevOps, or systems engineering roles.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code tools
  • College degree Computer Science, or other related field preferred.

Pay Range
USD $119,000.00 - USD $163,000.00 /Yr.
