Job description

Technical Project Manager

Location:                              Washington, DC Metro Area Hybrid; in-person with customers as needed

Employment Type:            Full-Time

Target Start:                        ASAP

Work Authorization:         No citizenship requirement

About the Role

We are seeking a Technical Project Manager to lead customer engagements and internal initiatives across technology, cloud, AI, solution delivery, and product implementation.

This is a hands-on, customer-facing project leadership role for someone who can bring structure to complex initiatives, coordinate cross-functional and offshore teams, translate business objectives into technical requirements, and take ownership of delivery from initiation through completion.

The ideal candidate is more than a traditional project coordinator. You will serve as the primary engagement point of contact, maintaining visibility across scope, schedule, budget, risks, dependencies, stakeholders, and technical delivery—and proactively driving issues to resolution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead 5+ concurrent projects and initiatives, ensuring delivery remains on scope, on schedule, and within budget.
  • Manage hybrid Agile/project management methodologies across customer engagements and internal initiatives.
  • Serve as the primary project and engagement contact for customers, internal leadership, technical teams, and delivery partners.
  • Coordinate cross-functional and offshore resources across engineering, cloud, AI, product, implementation, and business teams.
  • Translate business objectives and customer needs into clear technical requirements, project plans, priorities, and deliverables.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, milestones, budgets, resource plans, RAID logs, dependencies, and status reporting.
  • Identify risks, blockers, scope issues, and delivery concerns early and drive them through resolution.
  • Facilitate project ceremonies, stakeholder meetings, working sessions, sprint planning, retrospectives, and executive updates.
  • Partner with technical teams to understand cloud infrastructure, AI/ML, integrations, APIs, and modern technology environments well enough to make sound project decisions.
  • Manage customer expectations, scope changes, priorities, and delivery commitments throughout the engagement lifecycle.
  • Ensure projects produce measurable customer value—not simply completed deliverables.
  • Provide leadership with clear visibility into project health, risks, dependencies, and decisions requiring escalation.
  • Capture lessons learned and contribute to improving project management processes, delivery standards, and organizational practices.
  • Build strong relationships with customers and internal teams through proactive communication, curiosity, accountability, and follow-through.

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience leading customer-facing technology projects or engagements with accountability for delivery outcomes.
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent projects or initiatives, ideally 5 or more.
  • Strong experience with Agile, hybrid, and traditional project management methodologies.
  • Ability to coordinate distributed and offshore teams across multiple functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into technical needs and actionable project plans.
  • Working knowledge of cloud infrastructure and AI/ML or Generative AI concepts.
  • Strong understanding of project scope, schedule, budget, risks, dependencies, resources, and change management.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and customer communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to proactively identify issues and drive them to resolution.
  • Comfortable working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to operate independently in a fast-moving environment with minimal bureaucracy.
  • Strong curiosity, ownership, energy, and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with State, Local, and Education (SLED) customers.
  • Experience in cloud, AI, SaaS, technology consulting, implementation, or professional services environments.
  • Experience with customer solution delivery, product implementation, or service delivery.
  • PMP, CSM, SAFe, Scrum, or other relevant project/agile certification.
  • Experience with AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, AI/ML, Generative AI, or related technologies.
  • Experience with smaller or mid-sized customer engagements involving varied technologies and stakeholders.
  • Experience contributing to project management practice development, mentoring, or process improvement.
