Account Manager (Key Accounts / “Farmer”)
Location: Houston, TX

Position Overview
Houston Powder Coaters is seeking a relationship-driven Account Manager to oversee and grow a portfolio of key customer accounts. This role is focused on deepening partnerships, increasing wallet share, and ensuring a high level of service execution. The ideal candidate thrives on building long-term relationships, identifying growth opportunities within existing accounts, and coordinating internally to deliver consistent, high-quality results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop relationships with and manage a portfolio of key customer accounts, serving as the primary point of contact to enable profitable growth.

  • Identify and execute opportunities to increase revenue, including new programs, expanded product lines, and additional services.

  • Prepare accurate, timely quotations and estimates, ensuring pricing protects target gross margins and overall account profitability.

  • Apply working knowledge of powder coating processes, capabilities, and specifications to set realistic customer commitments and align expectations with Production.

  • Coordinate project launches with production and shipping, ensuring customer specifications are communicated accurately and monitor project timelines to resolve issues before delivery is impacted.

  • Manage the commercial and financial health of assigned accounts, including monitoring payment history, coordinating credit terms with Finance, and supporting collections to limit the company's financial risk.

  • Work closely with Operations, leading customer communication during critical projects and building accountability across departments for customer commitments.

  • Build strong, trust-based relationships with customers’ purchasing, engineering, and operations teams.

  • Conduct regular account reviews to assess satisfaction, performance, and growth opportunities

  • Collaborate with operations, production, and quality teams to ensure on-time delivery and service excellence.

  • Proactively resolve customer issues and escalate when necessary to maintain strong relationships.

  • Track account performance, including revenue growth, margin, and retention metrics.

  • Develop account plans outlining growth strategy, key contacts, and opportunity pipelines.

  • Stay informed on customer business trends, industry dynamics, and competitive positioning.

  • Support pricing discussions and contract renewals in alignment with company profitability goals.

Qualifications

  • 3–7+ years of account management, customer success, or sales experience (manufacturing or industrial services preferred)

  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills

  • Proven ability to grow existing accounts and expand customer spend
